question about vented c/f hood.
so im looking onto buyin a vented carbon fiber hood.
im worried about rain tho, or just water in general getting in the engine bay.
is there any sort of piece of sheet metal with some tracks or something you can buy to slide under the vent beneath the hood on rainy days? and then on a normal day you can just slide it back out?
anybody have a vented hood that has had problems with water getting in?

I have a vented hood... the water just gets on the header when its rainy. The header is stainless, so theres no problem. It also rains on top of the radiator cover technically speaking but big deal.
Some people were dumb enough to tell me to be careful if it's pouring the header will evaporate the water and itll fog up my view. The water cools the header as it hits it, so it never gets hot enough to just evaporate the water like that.
Theres literally no problem with water getting in there... just go for it. Only thing I can think of is if you let it get to temp. under a cover, then drive out into a downpour and it could crack the metal from cooling it too quickly, but that seems extremely unlikely.

ya def not a problem with the vented hood, i've had it on my car for awhile it just gets a little more dirty than normal but if you clean it up almost every weekend for shows like i do than you dont have dirt some stuff might get water spots but thas it.....i have a turbo and the vent is right ontop of the turbo and nothing wrong with it, just hte exhaust housing is iron so it rusts a little bit but nothin a wire brush cant fix lol or a custom heat shield
i was wondering too about it.. so i contacted Kaminari and asked them and this is what they responded..
"The
rain will fall in-between the engine and radiator, so there should be no
issue. Also, there is a 1/4" lip around the vent to trap light amounts of
water."
