Quick Tint Question
Ok, I've never had a car's windows tinted before, so bear with me on this...
After a fair bit of thinking and a little research, I decided to take the leap and have my tC's windows done. 30% is the limit around here, so I had pretty much decided ahead of time that that was what I was going with.
When I got to the shop (referred by a friend), they told me the only options were 35% and 15. The 35 looks really light, so I went with the 15, even though it's not quite legal.
So they did the windows, I paid and that was that. But when I hopped in the car, the first thing I noticed was that they didn't do anything to the front windshield. The hatch and all 4 side windows got tint, but the windshield is as clear as ever.
Is it standard practice to leave the windshield untouched, or do I need to call them and see if they just "forgot" or what?
It's not really a huge deal, but it looks a little bit odd from both the inside and the outside with such dark film on all the windows except one (I probably wouldn't put 15 on the front anyway, but maybe the 35 just to darken it a tad).
thanks

Some states you cant put tint at all in front windshield. You have to find out if your state allows it... They dont do it for you if its illegal in your state. I live in VA and its SUPERILLEGAL for any tint on front windshield.. i did 28 all around for my car and got pulled over today and the cop read 19% on front windows... only my 2nd day too with my tint
Before anyone starts flaming on the poor guy...
Yes Ziggy, it's totally regular practice to tint all but the windshield. If you have sensitive skin you can have a clear UV coat, but that's it, and most places would charge extra for that.
The main reason they don't do the windshield?
It's the one you always look at. 15% is really dark. Gonna make a super bright and sunny day look sort of like dusk... Now imagine if you're driving around at 2am... it's as DARK as it can GET... driving with your forward view that afflicted would definitely be a skill.
So don't worry, you didn't get shafted
Unless of course they charged an arm and a leg for the job...
More importantly though...
I think you have one of the first NBM tCs on this board...
Where's the pics?!?!
:D

Thanks for the quick response...
I was really hoping they'd have something between the 15 & 35, but for some odd reason, they had a pretty limited stock (though their work on other cars I've seen looked fantastic)
I got 15% on the remaining 5 windows for just under $140, so it seemed in line with what I expected...
As for the car itself, I've had it for just over a week now... Pics are here:

(These were taken within 15 minutes of taking delivery of the car)
I took a couple quick post-tint pics this afternoon, but I haven't had a chance to resize them for the net yet, so I'll try to post them sometime tomorrow.

but remember, the tC comes "pre-tinted" with the stock windows. it's not film tint, but they do offer a reduced level of light penetration. you can find the approximate levels here: http://home.cfl.rr.com/icdedppl/faq.html#d2
so, if you live in a state where they are really strict and you are going to be putting on the state legal limit or darker, the final percentage of light penetration will be even more than what you would expect it to be. and have your tint place check it after they do a window. all good tint places should have a tint meter...
