Default Rear Hatch Alignment Issue - Anyone Else Have This Problem?

I was looking at the rear glass panel on my roof and I noticed that the rear hatch glass is higher on the driver's side than on the passenger side. The glass from hatch is actually at least a quarter of an inch higher than the plane of the glass from the roof. Then when I looked closer, with the hatch closed, there is a much wider gap where the hatch meets the side body on the driver's side than on the passenger side. Then I also notice that with the hatch closed, the metal potion of the hatch where it meets the rear fender (like the area above the rear taillight) is highter on the driver's side. I am freaking out! Is there some adjustment here? Anyone have this issue? I cannot believe that I would not have noticed this before. I swear it just happened but I haven't been in an accident or anything.

Great time for Warranty service from you happy dealer....

I'd have them fix that right up... and it should be plenty free.

yeah deffinetly take it in. Does it leak at all?

(I am going to have fitment issues after i take a baseball bat to mine from the rattle driving me crazy. I really thought when people complained they were just worrying to much. Its really unbearable to hear. And embarrasing when others are in the car. I need to take mine in as well)

I don't have the alignment issues, but I know I've been busted in the head b/c the hatch won't stay up.

UPDATE - First, this is not a rattle issue, it is an alignment issue. I had an opportunity to take the car to the dealership. The dealership confirmed that there is no adjustment mechanism for the rear hatch. I was sent over to the body shop. After several technicians looked at the hatch, they concluded that the driver side hinge was bent and would need to be replaced.

When I asked how is it that a metal hatch hinge could get bent, the guy stated that it is not uncommon for this to occur. Putting something in the cargo area that does not quite fit and then slamming the hatch down; having a chunk of ice fall into the hatch channel and then closing the hatch; blah blah blah. The point being that I guess we need to be careful when we are closing the hatch or you may end up with a hatch that is out of alighnment like me and a trip to the body shop for major repair. So be warned.

Unfortunately, yes since my car is now out of warranty. It has to go into the body shop for about a day and a half so I have not had it fixed yet. I scheduled the appointment and after its done I let everyone how the repair works out.

That's why I paid the extra $1100 for 7/100k.
Good luck!

I had a similar problem but I had also been involved in a four car collision. The fix is not cheap.
