Review- ZPI "10000k Xetronic HID kit"
Here is the 10000k Xetronic HID kit that uses the stock tC headlight housing. I figured I do a little bit about it. ZPI sells this kit if interested.

This is an outstanding kit so far. I've had it on since end of October and no problems at all. My main concern was glare due to possible bad cutoff for head on drivers. Not an issue at all. Looks amazing. Install is gravy. No wires to cut and everything works with factory harness.
The brown stock connection (went to the stock bulb that fits the housing) plugs directly into the supplied kit connector. There are 2 pins that need to be crimped (solder is better but a good crimp should be fine). These 2 pins (white"+"/black"-" wire) then get pushed into the holes of the black kit supplied connector. Obviously both connectors are keyed. Please note the tab on top of the brown factory connector. In this position, the kit harness white wire (+) is on the right side of the connector. Don't mix this up or you will blow a fuse. If in doubt, check voltage.
The supplied connector even has the ribbed rubber seals for water tight connection. You can also see where I mounted the ballast. On the right hand side you see the hold down bolt. This is factory hole, no drilling needed. Same for the drivers side. There is a spot the ballast fits and and use existing bolt.

In this pic, the square piece comes from the ballast (hardwired) and has 2 prewired plugs out of it that plug directly into the HID bulb (nice ribbed weather seals). Each connector is keyed to prevent crossing them up (stupid proof
). The bulb then just twists into the stock housing.

Not a good head on yet...but here are a few. You can see the SILVERSTAR fogs.

is there a cutoff, hotspots, uneven light patterns of distribution? since it was designed for the stock housing this should have been achived unlike other kits
id like to see a picture too at night?
for 400.00 i hope this kit is addressing all these issues, because if it is id consider buying it......
too bad its only 10k temp

It doesn't look that purple on the road. The white walls enhance the purple alot. I had my friend drive in front of me and towards my car just to make sure I wouldn't be blinding anyone and he said they actually look REALLY white. In his words "holy light" haha. They do have a a pretty good bit of purple in them though.
Actually you guys are right I turned them on for the first time in the daylight today and those things are PURPLE. I don't really like it. It's not that bad at night but I wanted more blue in them as well.
So now my question is can I hook up a different temp bulb say like a 8000k to the exsiting balast system?

i believe that the ballast are interchangable
so if you get 8000k bulbs, then you should get 8000k lighting
8,000k = pretty blue, touch of purple
6,000k = white, touch of blue
4,000k = plain white (maybe alittle yellowish)
higher the 'k' = less light output/visibility
bmws i believe use 4,300k but the housing(projectors) give it that bluish look
the closes color to it without the projectors imo would be the 6000k
thats the kelvin i have and i wouldn't want it any other way
oh almost forgot, hid kits usually have a "break in time" they will slowly change to their true color in a few hours of use

I took mine off this morning and put the stock halogens back in and when I was looking at the bulbs they actually say 12k on them. This came with the full 10k kit so there must have been a mistake. Although now that I've seen the purple I don't want that at all. So 6k or 8 k sounds right to me. They don't make a 7k do they?
i dont think i've heard of 7,000k before but they do have 6,500k (not bad)
12,000k is crazy high, it would get even more purple once it breaks in.
contact the seller and tell them you got the wrong ones, dont think it will work though because usually bulbs are "you open it you keep it" kind of thing. give it a shot, say you ordered 8,000k. i think you would like those much better

I have 8k's and im very happy with them. The going price on the forums is around $280-$320 - When I have to replace the bulbs im going 8k again because its a rich look and still puts out lots of light. 8ks are not blinding so im kind to the traffic comming at me. Also - since we are not using projector housings .... its good to not blind the heck out of people.
