Default Scrape

Ok so I was backing out of a really steep driveways in order to turn around on a hill and well I scraped the bottom and front of my bumper really bad. Its a good 4 inch long and 3 inches wide. I was thinking about buying some touch up paint from the dealership but I am not sure if the little pen will cut it. I am not so concerned with the scrape on the bottom of the bumper but the scrape continues to the front which really makes the car not look so good. So I am really looking for some suggestions because I dont think its bad enough to repaint my entire bumper but something def. needs to be fixed. So should I just buy the tough-up paint pen or try something else. I am not so sure about the pen because this is definitely larger then a little scratch[/b]

Touch up for now but in the end you'll want it fixed or get a body kit. To repair it might be about 300 - 350 because then they have to repaint the whole bumper.

go get the OEM touchup from the dealer, sand it down, paint, sand, then clear, then sand again. buff it out after u done. ^^ u wont be able to tell. just get matching colors..lol not like me. mine looks good but i ran out of OEM touchup from practicing and spilling..so i used AUTOZONE. AUTOZONE = way off the color. lol yellowish instead of white, ima do it again though ^^ just try, cant hurt..

yeah I will probably have to sand it down a little because the scrape is almost rough to the touch. I am not sure what grit sand paper to use though. I think the job is too much for liquid sand paper but then again I've never tried to fiz a scrape before only minor scratches. I am a little scared to just start sanding my car so any advice would be helpfull, thanks for the tips so far.

Oh and I got a 2oz bottle of paint and some clear coat already I am just waiting to start becuase am not sure about sanding my car.

Just get a TRD lip kit and it will be covered.

just keep sanding until it is smooth. it doesnt matter how deep as long as you dont go deeper than the black plastic. then just cover it up with the paint, try to stay within the area, but if u dont, its ok..just sand it down after it dries. its better to have more than not enough. but heres the question..is the scratch down to ur plastic?

Start with 80 then 120 - 220 - 320 - then touch it up with primer (auto zone has touch up primer bottles) Then do the paint. If its down to the polypropylene plastic the primer or paint wont adhere right and itl peal in a little bit but its good for short term.

I dont think its down to the plastic but its hard to tell. I have a flint mica tc. The scrape is mostly white so im thinking it just took off the base coat. I am going to get some samdpaper from autozone later today, but I am not totally sure how well if it will work out.

As for the primer I didnt buy any yet. Will the paint peel if I dont use a primer first? I have never tired to fix the paint on my car so I was not sure if I needed it.

Well I looked into that and $1,000 is a lot, especially since the scrape isnt that noticable. I could get it but I am really saving for the S/C so Im not sure. Also do you know if the gound effects kit comes prepainted. I like the ground effects kit one best, I dont want my car too low I live on a steep hill which is how I scraped it to begin with.

hmm...clearcoat keeps it down, primer is not necessary. lol just cover it up if it's not that noticeable. clear coat makes it not go anywhere. the primer didnt keep the paint down when i did mine, only when the clear was applied. hope that helps.

you might as well buy a front lip. it will probably be cheaper than repainting the bumper and you get an exterior appearance upgrade.
