Default Sharp corners=ripples???

I was washing my car the other day, and right above the rear/right wheel, on the 1/4 panel, there were ripples...... i cant feel them or see them up close, but at an angle u can clearly see them?? Could it be from hard cornering? has anyone else experienced this, maybe everyone should check on this, cuz my friends noticed it too??? WTF

ripples? Do you mean irregularities in the paint?

Sounds as though it is the paint . Could be normal paint lines . If it is the Azure Pearl , most likely it is normal . If it is dark , could be a slight indention which causes ripples . Hard to say without being able to see it .

Does it look like the surface of an orange?

If so, what you're looking at "orange peel." It's normal on most paintjobs, unfortunately.

You really don't get very high quality paintjobs that are 90% or more lacking in orange peel until you go to paintjobs like that found on the LS460, or Buggati Veyron. Alternatively, you could wetsand any paintjob all the way to the level of the "hills" and then try to even it out... but the amount of clear coat you'd have to take off usually means it isn't worth it (will make for early clear coat failure even with proper care and application of waxes/sealants)

Of course, if you think our orange peel is bad... go look at a GM

rather severe orange peel looks like this:

Of course, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you probably won't notice the defect in your paint. But if you have someone who knows point it out to you, you won't be able to stop noticing and rating orange peel on any car

I'm thinking he means the light reflection ripples at an angle?
