I don't really feel like buying the leds online and I saw LED's at Radioshack and I was wondering if those would be fine

Just making sure they look the same in the DIY which really doesn't mean anything.

 

Yeah those will work but eventually those will stop working due to the vibration of the doors opening and closing.

We use arrays of leds. no diy currently made.
