Default Smoke/ Tint TYC tails for TC (HELP)

Okay so ive looked around and only see how to's for using VHT nightshades and overlays and what not for the stock taillights..

What I want to do with the tyc taillights is black out/tint/smoke the top blinker and reflector and leave the reverse and led's (which are chrome) alone..

i know it basically the same as stock tails right? only you just mask off the chrome and paint . coat after coat after clear coat wet sand etc...etc..

One thing is if i were to only tint the top portion of the tail i think it would look funny seeing tinted upper and at the same time along the side of the tail light, be able to see through the clear to the original black painted inside housing .

Therefore my question is: If i want to basically paint the whole light except for (of course) the chrome reverse/led's part... say i tape off what i dont want tinted .. when i decide to put the clear coat after tinted to my desire would i only do it to the parts of the tail light that i tinted or should i just spray over the whole tail including the part i want to stay clear (reverse/led's and wet sand the whole thing then re apply clear coat/ wet sand... etc...?

Let me know if my post makes enough sense to gather an answer...

if you read this and dont understand let me know what is unclear.. PLEASE

i will try to upload pics if it would help and if i could get some together. THANKS

Maybe u should try overlays first -- That way if u make a mistake or dont like the result you didnt just ruin your tails. I know bluebatmobile has a kit like that.

Mask off only the clear portion of the brake/reverse lights. You'll have about a 3/4-1in border between the masked and the edge of the light. If you're going to spray, spray that too.

Or send a PM to TheOverlayGuy on YSTC. He's the one that did my overlays and they're exactly what you're trying to do.

I have that Overlay, though its not in my Gallery yet. I also have one that smokes the entire taillamp and leaves the 2 center reflectors exposed .
