Speedometer help
Well, I decided to install some TRD face gauges on my speedometer. Turns out that they look like CRAP so I took them off. Now my RPM/MPH needles wont work. Suggestions??
Those do look like crap, sucks that you wasted your money on them...
When you say they don't work, do they not work at all? When you plug them back in and turn the car on do they all the way to the right and then back to their resting position? Did you make sure to reset them correctly? Try unplugging the battery for a few minutes and see if maybe there's something that just needs to be reset...Or did you mess with anything else while you had them off?

The Temp. and fuel needles work properly but the MPH/RPM needles don't go up or down when I turn the engine on or when I start driving. They stay just like the pic above in the down position. No, I didn't mess with anything else just removed the stock gauges.
Did you reset the needles properly? If so, go disconnect your battery real quick and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then hook it back up and see if that works and then let me know...Also, it probly isn't the case, but as always, check all fuses, under the dash and under the hood...
-Disconnected the battery... Didn't work
-I made sure that there was a gap between the gauge faces and needles when I first
started
-I will check the fuses tomorrow.
I believe that I broke the small motor that makes the needles go up/down. I might of pulled to hard or push the needle to hard when I inserted them back in because the needles on the left work but the MPH/RPM needles don't budge.

If it is the motors, you need another gauge cluster. Best way is to buy one from salvage and swap the motors out. If you swap out the cluster you have to buy a new one and have it programmed with the correct mileage.
If you wanted to send them out, I could take a look and see what it will take to fix them.

I dont think they will reprogram a used one, but I have never checked. You would need to ask the dealer. When they order a new one, they get the current mileage from the car and send it in to Toyota. Toyota preprograms the cluster before they ship it to the dealer. So I am not sure if they will reprogram one that you send them.
The idea is that they are trying to battle the used car lots that used to get a hold of the programming tool and sell cars with mis-stated mileage on them.
