This might be a stupid question, but does the pedestal spoiler actually help the aerodynamics for the tc? I dont know much about spoilers and usually see other kinds of them than the one you can get when you buy a tc.

no, it might actually cause drag, which in turn, reduces your gas mileage.

 

Ah, i see, well i didnt really pick it myself, it was on it when i bought the car and it was used so the originally buyer chose it.

 

Replace it with a Lip Spoiler. Studies have shown that a Lip Spoiler is known to be an aphrodisiac for the ladies.

No spoiler really helps unless you're going pretty fast anyways. At highway speeds there might be a BIT of help, but negligible.

Julian, you should take it off and get some black plugs that fit into the holes. The pedastal spoiler is godawful.

well... it's not JUST for looks..
it's MOSTLY for looks..

though for it to have any type of significant aerodynamic effect at all.. you'd be breaking the speed limit..
(and though lower speeds sure it'll have an effect.. i'm talking about a significant effect)

then even so.. i haven't seen anything that shows that it's actually a benefit or a disadvantage..

though i do believe seeing back then.. numbers showing the factory option pedestal spoiler making the car perform worse.. not sure..

i don't see the spoiler having any type of aerodynamic properties. the lip spoiler would probably be more effective then the pedestal spoiler. and by effective i mean destructive. If you drive fast enough for it to be effective, you better also be taking a sharp turn for it to be useful. Otherwise you're just creating drag.
