Default tc accident - pics - how much damage?

alright, to make a long story short...a guy pulled out in front of me while another car was turning into the street, so he didnt really see me coming, nor did i see him...well, he pulled out and i almost missed him (doesnt look that way from my car damage pics, sure does from his though, which really sucks for me) anyways...yeah, i "clipped him" and thus the car accident and damage.

just wondering, if anyone knows roughly how much this is in damage...there is no intake engine damage, just my driver's side fender/rocker panel and my bumper mainly, maybe a new headlight, but probably not...its not damaged, just needs to be reajusted. the police said it was his fault, my friend was fallowing me so i had a witness, which is so good, i think it really helped. anyways, any ideas? just happened like an hour ago. and i know you guys read these types of posts, so i thought i'd submit it.

- - -
his car, all he needs is a new bumper, nothing metal was messed on his Infiniti...damn, good for him, he was an older dude, really nice and cool about the whole thing actually. but still, sucks for me bad cuase i baby my car, im poor, and all my money goes to paying for it...so, when you try so hard to take care of something you cherish, and this happends, its way sucky...could have been much worse though, have to remember that.

****anyways, thats all i got for now. thanks guys, let me know what ya think, maybe costs or stuff like that....i really would like them to replace my whole drivers side front rocker panel, fender...is that possible in this situation you think? i dont know anything really about panels and what they do to fix things, just that i really dont want the dents removed, i want a whole new panel...some of you guys probably understand why..anyways, thats it. i'll shut up now.****

Ouch; that sucks. It's going to be around two grand; maybe three. Your insurance should cover most of it though.

It looks as if your bumper could be salvaged, heated and popped back out. The fender needs replacing and the things we can not see are the mounts that could possibly be damaged. Sometimes accidents really suck but on the other hand they can be an opportunity. Maybe you can get an aftermarket bumper you want or if there were fenders out there you like. Some times you can get the body shop to work with you and get the aftermarket parts instead of the OEM parts. Just my 2 cents.

well, look on the bright side, now you can be the second person on the forum to get those new projector headlights!

Dude, seriously, that fricking sucks. The damage isnt bad and i highly doubt anything is structurally wrong with the car. your baby will get back to normal soon enough :D

belive it or not try to push your front bumper back out, if it does not push out its done, but it does not look like any structrual damage, so new fender, new front bumper cap. i would say 1500 low end 2k high end.

If it was his fault, why worry about Damages. Insurence will cover/worry about that.

I'm with superwhite-socal why wory about it if it's his fault...

I use to drive an infinity and the thing was beastly (minus the bumpers) I'm surprised that there isn't more damage to your car.

Good luck

(oh, and my guess to damages is definately sub 2k if it's all asthetic. )

hey everyone-

thanks for the insight. i was just curious about how much it would cost. yeah, i know insurence will cover it and that. its so crazy of how much money is racked up with a small accident.

one main question, so they are more than likely going to replace the whole fender then? i was just wondering about that, or will they try to get the dents out and leave the fender and not totally replace it?

thanks again! i appriciate it.

your going to get a new fender and a new bumper. that bumper is gone...i twould cost more to heat it up and pop it out, then completly strip the bumper because i can almost guarentee the paint is shattered in places...that looks to be about 16-18 hours of work total...so 16 hours times $45.00ish (depending on the shops paint/body work prices) is $720. then you have to look at a new bumper...200ish maybe(im really not sure) and fender...150ish? i dont know what the prices are on these...headlight if need be is like 180? so that lokos to be in the area of 1100-1500 total costs...

but if it was HIS FAULT, his insurance will pay for both cars...so there is no money out of your pocket, not even for a rental your insurance should set you up with one. make sure your car goes to the SHOP OF YOUR CHOICE. take it to a reputible shop, not a garbage hole in the wall place the insurance wants you to go to. it is your chioce where it goes...make sure it goes somewher good.

I'm surprised you guys have to ask him why he's worried. You guys don't love your cars enough I'd be worried too, depending on who you let fix your car. My friend and I both baby our cars. He drives an 05 accord. Couple months back he got rear ended on the freeway. It was completely the other guys fault and agreed to pay full damages, but hell if we weren't still ____ed and flustered. He ended up getting it fixed by the local Honda dealer and they did the ____tiest job. They remolded the bumper, mounted it half-assedly (looks like ____ if you notice those kinds of things) , and gave it a half-assed touch up paint job (most people can't tell the difference but my friend and I can see how the metal flakes are 'spaced' differently; I believe this is because no one can match the factory curing temps).

Really? Haha I was told by the tech guy at my dealership that it would never be the same because none of the body shops could match factory curing temperatures. I guess I got bsed or maybe he was talking about the everyday average bodyshops, eh?

^^ true, if they cant match it, they dont need to be working on them. My rear bumper was replaced and it matches absolutely perfect. I have seen plenty of shops match even old paint with metal flake. If they are good, they can do it.

My rear bumper cover replacement pluse painting ran the other guys insurance approx $800. I would guess at least $1500 - $2000 for yours, but its hard to tell without seeing if there is anything else out of whack. It also depends on rates where you live. For instance, labor rates in my home town were around $50/hr, where in some areas they may be as high as $90/hr.

But as mentioned, your insurance wont cover ANY of it. It was his fault, his insurance will spot the bill.

Fender needs replacement.
You should check for bent suspension components. Checking your wheel alignment may help locate bent components. You may have out of spec. caster and toe wheel angles.

even though the other party's insurance will be paying for it, it is still a pain to go through the whole process, and hassle.

My dad hit a dog once and did similar damage. It was about 1500 for a new fender, bumper, and light. So Id say probably under 2k.
