of course it was worth it you, it was $150 shipped. hell it would have been worth it for me too.

what is being said is that its not worth $1000+.

But if he/she only has the upper then that's ugly. I would want both, I just don't like how long it takes the stock gril to dry after washing.

If they ask for the VIN, making ordering limited then why have it so expense? Is that the same price that a RS owner would pay?

yes its the price an RS owner would pay......

and what I did to counteract the drying thing was use an air compressor or leaf blower and just force that water outta there.
works great on the front grilles and the side rear view mirrors and the back scion logo and the lights that light up the liscense plate and the trim around the windows and the rims.....

but the grilles are fine now though because I have the grillecraft ones now and they dont cling to water.

Man that sucks!

I've heard of both methods, but don't have either. :]

how come no company has come out with a rs1 grille replica yet? seems like the logical thing to do after scion is being a turd with the pricing on the oem grilles.

any company with a halfway decent product will make a lot of cash with this thing.

the reason why they make it so expensive in addition to asking for vin is because an RS owner could simply sell their own and get another one from toyota. keeping the price that high, an RS owner cant reallly do that withouth selling it for the same price that they are going to have to buy it for again, which would be $1500+. i was considering making trying to make a replica RS grille because i know somebody that can do it and very possibly mass produce it. that was back when i thought i was going to be having two sets. the option is still open but i dont have a temp grille.

Well, another reason why ppl aren't producing a replica is probably because the upper is made of two pieces, unlike the regular tC grill. it has the blacked outer trim and the metal mesh grill. I had a chance to pull one off of an rs1... and you cant just replace the metal part which would be easier to reproduce. Hopefully someone copies it soon.

Just an fyi to everyone out there asking me for employee pricing... just about everything on trdsparks.com is employee cost... even the BBK... I just verified the price... cost is $1687.00, add 10% to that and you get the $1855.

the regular tC grille is also made of two pieces. the chrome ring and the inner honeycomb. the chrome ring is screwed to the honeycomb and the honeycomb part clips to the frame.

and they way the grille is clipped on, it looks like its pretty difficult to make a new one that clips right in, and that will probably cost more. most the ones out there now require you to drill holes to screw it in.

Yeah, I was mistaken, you're right, they are two pieces. I believe the RS1 actually has more screws holding it on... a few more on the bottom than the regular grill. I realized I was wrong and was just waiting for someone to correct me, haha, thanks :-P

I may not know alot, but I know alot about what I know!

the stock chrome ring has 7 screws in it. 5 across the top and one each on the bottom corners. all these screws and NONE connect to the front bumper!

imo, Toyota uses a very odd method for putting some things together. but hey, it seems to work fine and its very easy to work with, and thats a good thing.
