I am willing to spend a few extra $$ to get good bulbs that wont blow out in a few months so let me know what you think. Links ..... postings.... anything .... i need help on this one.

i think he ment autospeed.com ---- When they said HID bulbs ... what does that mean? .... I am asking this because I thought for HID you had to have the whole hid housing etc etc to make hid work?? OR is it just "called hid lighting"?

HID lighting is just the type of bulb used in the lighting. the hedlight housing you are thinking off is the projector housing, it's kind of like a magnifying glass in front of the bulb.

if it is just the bulb without any balllasts and such then it is not truly HID, as many know. HID is a word that is thrown around a lot nowadays, anything u can buy for less than a couple hundred dollars will just be "HID-look"

Everyone seems to be partial to the Nokya bulbs.

I like the Silverstars myself, but for some reason people seem to have a problem with them.

If you just want blue tinted headlights, go grab some "Cool Blue" headlights. Same brightness as stock, blue tinted, and street legal.

Check out the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs. They are not blue when on, but are much whiter and brighter then the conventional Hyper Whites or blue bulbs you get at Target. Plus they will last much longer. I have them for my fogs, high and low beams and also have them for my parking lights.

Yeah... unless youre willing to spend $500 for REAL HID gas bulbs with ballasts to charge them, and then an additional $500 if you want to retrofit GOOD quality projectors into your headlight assemblies, then just go for the Sylvania Silverstars.
People have a problem with them only because they last approx a hundred hours. However, they wont burn out your wiring, are street legal, and run at approx. 4000K. A REAL HID systm runs at 4300K which is what youll see on Honda S2000's, Mercedes, BMW, etc.
The way shields are set up on your assemblies effect brightness, and cutoff reflection (which is what you get in your eyes when you see the cool "blue" effect) Its really a rainbow, but blue is the most noticable color.
Those "morons" with anything above 6000K bulbs have very ILLEGAL and NON-FUNCTIONAL lights. They start turning purple in color (which, to some people, might be nice) but is really a signal of their lack of vision at night. So the basic rules are when you get higher in Kelvinage, you lose Lumens. So for example, a 4300K bulb will be "less blue" but will be a LOT brighter than, say an 8000K set up.
Hope this helps

I just got sylvania silverstars - for $30 I couldn't be more happier. They look great in white and not that fake purple look.

Silverstars only last 100 hours??? Dayum!!! That sucks... but, they look great. I had them on my old car, but those were h1's.

Who cares I guess, $40 bucks here in hawaii is still cheaper than retrofitting a real HID kit!

PIAA all the way, here's a website with the best price on them. I really recommend the PIAA blue spark (they're around $100 for a set but last forever)

low beams: http://www.extremeredline.com/lighting/9006_bulbs.htm
(stock wattage is 51, i wouldn't put anything over 55w in)
head beams: http://www.extremeredline.com/lighting/9005_bulbs.htm (stock wattage is 60 so try not to go more then 5 over that, otherwise you'll burn the harness.)

im thinking of getting:
Piaa Super Plasma GT-X: 9005/9006/HB Series

The new GT-X provides an exclusive purple low beam and an Xtreme White high beam. And if that weren't enough! PIAA has added a purple colored top coat giving the headlamp a purple look even when the lamp is turned off.

Bulb Type 9005/9006 (HB Series) Fit both type
Wattage 55w = 110w, 5000k
Technology Super Plasma GT-X with XTRA Technology

Would these be good? Or is there a better one on that page? I do want that blue/purple tint.

and for the highbeams - this one:

Piaa Xtreme White Plus: 9005

The blue top coat on these bulbs add a slight blue tint to the lamp while still providing outstanding performance. PIAA offers the 9000 Series Xtreme White Plus in four distinct types – 9004, 9005, 9006 and 9007. Manufactured to SAE recommended specifications and DOT compliant.

What do you think??

I think it's funny that many people are more concerned with what their headlights look like from the perspective of on-coming trafic rather than how well they improve visibility.

I've tried Silverstars, and liked those. They create a very white, bright light. I'm sure PIAA do the same, if not better.

Someone gave me some of those pretend-HID-look-bulbs for Christmas, and I tried them, and they sucked compared to my factory bulbs. They were dim in comparison to the factory bulbs, and gave everything look like it had a blue tint, although I'm sure people coming in the opposite direction were very impressed. Granted, they were inexpensive bulbs. If I remember, when I get home, I'll post before/after pictures.

The factory bulbs in the tC are excellent. (maybe a little TOO bright, I get people flashing their hi-beams at me just about every night on my way home from work)

PIAA bulbs are very good. I have owned many pairs of crummy bulbs and I refuse to spend $30 on a set that is going to burn out in a few months. So actually, erc, that is why I want the PIAA's. Can someone second that the combo of lights that I want to get would be good? OR - is there a better combo??
