tC and window tint
iv'e had my tint for 6 months and there is still NO imperfections at all. what could have caused the vertical scratches is if you rolled down the windows after getting the tint within about a week. if you roll down ur windows in under a week it can ruin the tint.
My tint guy and others ive talked to said about 3 days before i could roll my windows up and down i wish i would have known it was supposed to be a week. Its hard for me anyway because i ride the parkway to work everyday and theres 2 tolls on my way to work and home. I drove through them for 3 days and got 2 tickets but i couldnt do it for a week anyway. I guess when i have my tint redone in a couple months around summer, ill keep my windows up for about a week.
My tint is perfect and had it since dec 1st what i say you do is just drive by his shop and set it on fire i am sure he doesnt have insurance running a business like that why dont you post that shops number we all will call and give him a piece of our minds
The main reason youc ant put your window down is because they flip down...the rubber weatherstripping on the inside of window. So when you put it down and then back up the weatherstripping gets caught its tries to flip itself back over.. I know and had to fix it cuz when I went to the LI meet I put my window down for tolls. After 5 days of getttin it done. It didnt ruin the tint. But I had to flip the weatherstripping up.
When I tinted the windows in my grand am.. I put my windows up after the first full -2 days.. Never had ANY problems wit them.. I take my car somewhere to get done.. PROBLEM.
AND.. my pass. window is starting to squeek AGAIN!! Im soo gonna flip on this clown

But thanks for letting me realize that my tinter was a loser

i am a tinter. and proud to be a damn good one. the scratches really are from the rubbers. sometimes, dirt and little particles get stuck in there and scrateches the window. most common are the 04 accords, mercedes, and acural tsx. but that theory "if you can't tell from five feet away" is b.s. it is true that there is no such thing as a perfect tint, but there shouldn't be a bunch of bubbles or hair.
but think about this: good paint job $4,000 good tint job $150+ still, no such thing as perfection in either one. but you shouldn't get lied to or ripped off.

I wanted to get my car tinted, but after seeing some of the problems that can occur i am actually scared too. I am a big believer in you get what you pay for, and I know a lot of the guys here were quoting jobs for 100-125. In my area, i am being quoted around the high 200 - 315 dollar range for any type of formula one tint i want on all 5 windows. I dont know if this is a rip off, but for this price i am expecting the quality of the work to be superb.

Im thinking your scratches and bubbles came from you rolling your windows down before a week after you got your tint. I got 3M Platinu tint on my tC and didnt roll my windows down for 10 days just to be sure. Ive had it for about 6 months now and no scratches or bubbles. Mine were laser cut and highly professionally installed. You definately got ripped off b/c mine had a 3 month install warranty and have a lifetime fade 1 yr. scratch warranty. i paid $160....go get 3M if you dont like the job they did. check my gallery
it don't matter what tint you have, solar gard, lumar, 3m, it will get scratched if something gets stuck in the rubber. and it don't matter if you roll down the window two days later or wait two months later. and also, i hate laser cut films. most real tinters do. it can't cut as good as my hands and a blade. it may be faster, but not better.

To those who have their hatches tinted...
Do you have glare at night from the defrost lines reflecting the lights from cars behind you?
I have this and hate it. I like to know when po pos are around.

I finally just got my windows tinted yesterday after months of waiting (for various reasons). Any ways, on the driver's side window there is about a quarter inch scratch right about eye level. I just want to see if you guys think I am being picky (I'm kind of a perfectionist) or am I right to want to get this taken care of by the tint guy? In my defense it is deep scratch and very noticable. If it was longer it would be a no brainer. Aside from that the car looks great with tinted windows. Only wish I could have done limo all the way around...
No Not at all.. I have some scrates in my tint now.. After time they start to settle in.. And it kinda makes you mad cuz you spent over 100 bucks on tint.. paper thin plastic. and it gets scartehd within the first month.. I make decent money but cant afford to retint my windows once a month

you are not just spending money on "paper thin plastic". it's the service, looks, and protection. $100 is a very cheap investment considering that it protects the interior, reduces heat, and makes it look better. if you don't tint your car, good luck with your interior fading, and dash changing shape. and also, what can make your car look that much better for $100? springs maybe, but then you have to spend a couple hundred and then some for service.

My 96 grand am never had tinted windows till i bought it 3 years ago. Never faded.. My moms 95 olds. isnt faded. It helps wit the heat a lil bit.
But its still not worth replacing it all the time if it keeps scratching.
I do agree wit you on the looks.. 10 X's makes the car look.. I love my dark windows..
