Default Are these just as good as HIDs?

I am very interested in these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nokya...lenotsupported

over an HID kit. But I am curious, it says that these are just plug and play, do I still need a better relay harness than the OEM one that I am currently using for stock halogens or can I just plug these in and call it a day?

I am not that good at installing parts either, is this really that hard to install?

Any help is appreciated.

There is no "as good as HID." They either are or aren't.

As for the install, ya, you'd definitely need an upgraded harness. Those are 80W bulbs.

Ok, thank you. I should have re-phrased my question. I meant to ask, are these a good alternative to HID's?

For $30 more you could have HIDs shipped to your door. I wouldn't trust those bulbs being 80w while our factory ones are what 55/60w?

My only concern about HIDs is not so much installing them, (even though I would have no clue what i'm doing), but I heard that it can void your warranty. My dad purchased like a 7year/100k warranty and I do not want to mess that up....

I've had the same set of HIDs on my car since 06. No issues as of yet. Just get a relay harness to power them from the battery and you'll be fine.

HID is pretty safe for warranty. One mod does not void the entire vehicle warranty. Where you would have issue is if you messed up your headlight or lighting wiring, those specific parts would no longer be covered. The engine, drivetrain, body, interior, etc. would all still be covered unless the dealer found the HID's to be the direct cause of a problem for those other areas.

Go with HID but make sure it's a kit with a relay and seperate power wiring, you do not want to run stock wiring directly to the ballast. Also, don't be a bad driver and install HID in the high beams, only the lows with the projector lamp. HID + reflector housing sucks for the other drivers, the brighter light is not controlled and will go to the oncoming driver's eyes, and the rearview mirror of the people in front of you. If you don't want to be potentially hassled by police, stick to 4.3k or 6k for color. 4.3k is whiter and gives more light, 6k is slightly blue.

Those bulbs are not worth it get HIDS you'll be happier and it'll give a cleaner, crisper appearance than those wannabe's. Redirect your headlights if your worried about affecting other drivers.

Thanks for the input guys. I have a 2009 scion, so they are projector headlights correct? If I were to purchase these HIDs:

Is there anything else that I will need. I believe scionlife members get these for $60?

Don't worry man the install is super easy, I know a girl that did hers herself and she did a pretty good job, I believe there is a DIY on how to do it, I used double sided stickey tape to mount the ballasts and fuse relay, then later changed it to industrial strength velcro. For sure though don't cheap out and get "fake HID's" you will be much happier with the real deal. And they look sick in 08 09 projectors

I'm not an advertiser but If you were looking for a "cheap HID alternative" here's the real deal for a REAL DEAL.

I had this kit in my motorcycle for about 3 months and haven't had any issues..

no not as good as HIDs.......twice the wattage to stock, less light than HIDs in most cases, twice as hot,adn they melt a harness pretty quick..........warrenty well HIDs willl not void it as you wil not have problems with good HID kit like mobile HId or others with harness and relay.........or digiatl ballast.......

I am on two year solid with mine........not a problem at all and had my headlights changed for leaking with the HID kitin...........
