Default For those with the Kaminari Kit

This kit is awesome, I just got it all painted and ready to install. I was going to install this myself hopefully tomorrow..but I was curious as how to hold the Side skirts up. From what I have read I need to keep the stock side skirts on and put the Kaminari sides over them? How do I hold them in place?

Also, how many stock screws does the the Kaminari front bumper use from the original bumper?

I am going to get some painters tape or use some cloth material to place on my car so I don't scratch my car when putting the kit on, I just wanted to see if their was anything else I need before I go to the Hardware store.

Thx Guys

Good choice. I love the Kami kit. As far as the side skirts go, you will need to leave the stock side skirts on. Attatch the new ones with double sided tape and a screw at each end.

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIL WILL!

The side skirts hes right about that but some of the side skirts are a little different than the others. I had to put screws with double stick tape along the door jam, it looks good because I used chrome show screws and It doesn't make it look bat at all, just first put it up against the car before you do anything to hold it in place so you know what points need what.

Thanks Delta. Can you take pics of where you put the screws? I was thinking about putting some in the door jam.

Ill take pics with my bros cell next time i see him (probably tonight) then Ill post them. Their in good places.

For discontinued fiberglass side owners like me pre-drill the holes first so you don't crack the fiberglass.

All you need is just some 3M emblem glue or weather stripping glue and just apply a thick line through the center and just spread it out with your finger.

When it comes to the double stick tape on the rocker panels you need to first put 3m emblem glue or weather stripping glue along the lip, spread it around with your finger, then put the tape over it )it gives it a much stronger hold) then take off the read backing, apply a coat of the 3m emblem glue and spread it around again, then put on the rocker panel (side skirt) and thatl hold much stronger than just 3m glue.

I will try to get pis in the morning, its too late for good pics.

Im not going to start a new thread about this because I dont have pics of the how to but I have example pics.

Ok well for those of you with Kaminari side skirts, we all know they fit great but don't quite fit perfect when it comes to the door jam just like the rest of the body kits out there, nothing is perfect. But there is such ting as close to perfect and doing this just takes you one step closer.

I have the authentic discontinued kaminari fiberglass sides so I have a much better fit and defined shape but mine are allot easier to brake so those of you with fiberglass be careful because you can crack them and split it as easy as wood. You want to first drill a hole with a drill bit just smaller than the screw you are going to use and drill through that but not through the stock side skirt because thatl weaken the hold. When you put the screws in make sure they do what you want them to do but dont put too much stress on the side skirt because if theres too much tension eventually the fiberglass will give away and crack. I put mine like this, not in the center because then theres very little fiberglass holding it from pulling away.

Like I said I used chrome finish screws so it looks good, at first I didnt like that I had to do this but now I do like it because it matches the door jam scuff protector.

On the other side I only did 3 because there would be way too much tension at the far left and it would eventually brae though, so I just put them there to keep it from wiggling.

Those of you with poly kits its alot easier because they wont give away lie fiberglass, so you can pull it and put pressure on it and make sure you have it fastened to the old side skirt so that it doesn't pull the screw out.

And a sneek peak! Even though its not a perfect fit near the door jams its a great quality product so if anybody wants it and is questioning the fit dont question it because I never herd of anybody having fitting issues with Kaminari. But the fiberglass version has a much better fit than the poly because the fiberglass can tae the shape, the poly is like a rubber so it kind of gives it a smooth shape on the corners and because of that it mostly just covers the shape to a dull tip instead of detail. Still great though!

I also took off the plastic drives on each side of the side skirts because i just dont trust them. Instead of a fender screw with a plastic drive I have a 1" bolt with a nut on the end with a 2asher on each side. Much stronger .

so i got my kit on...damn that was hard as heck. I wish we had a DIY on here somewhere, I had to guess which clips to use to hold the front bumper in place on the bottom. I had some fitment issues because I bought the kit used, so it appears the clips to hold it snug were kinda worn in both the front and rear. The side skirts when on ok, I have to adjust the passanger side one as it keeps popping up once I the door.

Also, the color appears to be off a bit, i was lookin around on some other cars with kaminari and the color just appear to be off a smidge on everyone else. I have a flint mica and ill post pics tommorow, but is it maybe because the painter didnt match up right? or is Flint Mica hard to get dead on?

Lastly, my rear is fiberglass and the rest is urethane, but i think i might be sellin the rear, I want to get a Urethane rear. Anyone sellin theirs? Or know where i can get a good deal?

Thats how it is with all the cars, the front and rear bumpers are off a bit(aftermarket and factory), cause there differnt materials i guess.

THe material doesn't matter much but it does play a roll since you need different layers of plastic promoter adn primer for the metal and polyurethane but it takes some time to have a perfect dead on match. Maybe to have it perfect it could take 45 min to mix the paint. It took me 30 min to mix polar white for a Toyota today and they wanted a perfect color match. Drop of black at a time.

Lets see those pictures though! Kaminari either way is better than stock and dont feel bad no body kit is perfect. I kknow mine isnt.

Anyone pull the stock side skirts off and install the kaminari on the stock skirts while off then put them on as one?

I installed mine today and I'm just not feeling the side fitment so I think I'm gonna try that.

Also around the passenger light it sticks out and wont pop in. I'm gonna try and get it on a lift and see if I can push it in and screw one off the screws up in there to hold it, not sure though.

With all the flaws I had people drooling over my car tonight at a local meet and others hated me cuz I got some much stuff done to it in like 3 weeks.lol
