20 percent in a grey

 

 

I thought Cali laws say the rear can have unlimited tint.

 

You can.

Front Windshield= Top 4" only, no VLT% limit

Front Side Windows= 70% VLT (tC stock is 74.4% VLT)

Rear Side Windows= No VLT% limit

Rear Window= No VLT% limit if equipped with dual side mirrors

 

^^What he said. The reason why I said "Stupid Cali laws" is that I would love to go 20% on the sides, but I know the coppers would be all over me for being that dark.

These pix were taken at like 1pm. So you can see that even though its bright out, the tint is still dark.

Lastly, if you're going to tint the sides make sure you tint the same % on ALL the windows. IMHO when I see a tC (or any car for that matter) that has the rear quarter windows tinted darker than the Driver's and Passenger's windows, it disrupts the flow of the lines of the car. (Let the heated exchange begin! )

 

I did 22% all around when I did mine. Not that bad, and you can still see out quite well even at night.

 

i got 20% all around,most people now get 20% all around. Just don't drive like an idiot and you should be fine.

 

I got 35/20 like your talking about a couple of months ago. I wanted to get 20 all around but worried about the cops. its not a bad tint at all. At night its great, if its really sunny out its just ok. Myne is bsp also. I havnt had any trouble with the cops yet, knock on wood, lol but you can definately see a difference when you compare it to ones with stock windows....i love them. Go for whatever you want though, lol i let my mom sway my decision on 20 all around and i regret it. lol its whatever.

My tC is still stock and I'm also looking at getting some tints. Someone posted the tint limits for Cali. earlier, but does anyone know the limits for New York / New Jersey off hand?? I do alot of traveling between the two. Thanks

 

Nevermind that last post, I found my answer. The state limits for New York are 70% for front windows, 70% for back windows, no limit for rear windshield, and a 6" strip for the front windshield. I'm thinking about saying "The hell with it" and getting 20% all around to match with the roof. I think having the same % tint all around would look better than having the roof and back really dark with the front not as dark. What do you guys think? And for those that live in New York, do you guys get hassled by the police for your tints, and if so, how dark are they?? What would you recommend?? Thanks.

does anyone know what total percentage it would be if i got two layers, one at 5% and the other at 35%?

would two layers of 35% be darker than a single 5%?

I've still gotta call two more places for quotes.

 

i know this makes no difference to none of u, but i lvie in chicago...and i got quoted from 160-245...and the best reviews were at the 160 place in a rich suburb...he uses good tints too i forgot the name it starts with an "s"...yeah so i just wanted to say dont get ripped off just bcuz u see a higher price. thanks for posting

 

They told me 120 for the whole car, is that good or bad?

 

I got 20% sides and 15% hatch. Paid $120 for the tint with lifetime warrantee. I think they did a good job, just make sure you know who you are dealing with.
