Yes!! The reverse bulb in TYC's are the same as stock tails (921's). I have LED 921's in my TYC's.

Not sure why picture of back up light turned out blue. They are actually more white with a hint of purple. Maybe I'll try a shot from further away or fiddle with camera settings! Don't expect the light output to be better than the stock bulb. This is a 9 LED bulb which I plan to upgrade to a 18 LED SMT(a little pricey) 921 bulb shortly.

Bump. I recently got some TYC lights and I see the reverse lights are 921's. Does anyone know what bulb fits into the turn signals?

The turn signals are 7440's. Just an FYI I just converted my turn signals to LEDs and you are going to want to spend the $ up front to be happy. I went through 2 differnt types of bulbs before I found these. Most LED's are NOT bright enough for turn signals to be easily visible during the day time. Yeah these arn't cheap but they are as bright if not brighter than the stock bulbs.

Also, you will need to buy load resistors if you want the signal to blink at the same rate that is does with the regular bulbs.

you can't replace the leds in the TYCs...

Sorry to revive but just in case anyone out there is still looking for a true 7440 led bulb. As many sold are actually 7443 but sold as 7440 or 7440 compatible. And are not that bright. I stumbled across these at my local Pep Boys. They are Philips Vision 7440 red led's, link below.

VisionLED LED car lamp 12838B2 | Philips

They are marketed as stop and tail led's. But I use them as rear turn signals in my aftermarket tails. Yes they still do need the load resistors or upgraded flasher relay to correct the fast flash. But they are brighter than my previous 7443 compatible led's that I just was never satisfied with. I went through about 5 different styles with different multiples of led's in the actual bulb, red and white color(the turn signal lens is red) and they just were never bright enough. The last pair I bought before these were advertised as true 7440 and the pic looked like 7440's. But what I got, again, were 7443 compatible led's.

So while waiting for a repair on my other car at Pep Boys. I saw these Philips and was happy to see they were true 7440s and decided to give them a shot. They are around $30 on average for the pair. Have a 12 year warranty and they are solidly built. What's interesting about them is that they don't have top mounted led's. The led's are mounted at angle to aim back towards the reflector in the housing. They are still bright on their own but this design results in a brighter output when installed in housings with a reflector.

So if anyone is looking for red 7440 led's. Try and give these a shot. I've also included an Amazon link below for them that has some reviews.

P.S. Happy to say too my '05 tC is still running well at 178,000 miles. Had to replace the water pump a couple months ago because of a small leak. But that is fine in my book. Peace.
