Uh-oh (Accident)
Does anyone have any suggestions for when I take this to the bodyshop for an estimate?
Do I let him figure the whole repair for all OEM parts, then tell him I'm going to get a hood for cheaper than that, or do I wait until the insurance company sends the check THEN tell the bodyshop that I'm getting a CF hood?
IN OTHER WORDS: What's the best way for me to get a CF hood with the money from the insurance company? (I don't care about pocketing any money...the bodyshop can pocket whatever is left over.)

If you don't care about pocketing the money, then I would talk to the bodyshop before ordering the hood... I would let them do the quote, then tell them what you want to do. Most body shops are okay with this type of thing and are happy to take any extra money given. But every now and then you might get a stickler for the rules that won't let you do that. In this case I would worry more about what body shop to take it to.
Some insurance companies will just send you the check for the amount that you need. Well, the amount minus any deductible that you may have. If you get a quote from a body shop on how much it will cost for a new hood, paint and labor, it might be best to get a second quote for just labor to put on a cf hood. Then take the first quote to insurance company and get the check made out to you, not the body shop. But then again, this is the best way to pocket money.
In your case, I guess I would stick with the first option of talking to the body shop.

-Seibon OEM ($500.00 shipped)
-Seibon VS-II Vented ($550.00 shipped)
-Motor-FX Fiber-FX Vented ($500.00 shipped)
...unless we can get a discount through SE on a hood I would like.
Oh yeah... oops, I forgot about the whole reason you are getting a new hood in the first place. LoL. The last time something like this happened to me it was a fender and it happened when I was sleeping - so my insurance paid for it.
In that case, the options I named are still valid, just without the whole deductible issue. Seeing how you really don't need a body shop because you can install the hood yourself with the help of others, I would go with the body shop quote and DIY route - if the insurance will allow it.
Once you choose the hood, please post pics. I am sure I am not the only one that would like to see it.
