Default Unremovable "spots" off clear coat?

I haven't wash-waxed my car for about a month or two, today I wash it and I noticed everywhere of my car, have these water stain like spots, especially all over the hood. I tried waxing my ___ on it, but it still doesnt come off, it looks like as if the clear coat melted and it also looks like air bubbles, but the size of an average water stain. Like I said its not coming off via waxing and it looks smooth and glossy with the wax, not dipped or raised off the surface.

Anyone got any idea? Or I am just screwed.

They're not scratches..they look exactly like water stains except its in the clear coat..looks like etchings/smears, but its realy clear and smooth and you can tell unless you look at it at an angle that there are "water" stains on the finish...

also..just tried rubber compound on it, does nothing at all, looks like its damage from under the clear coat, kinda like bubbles I guess. But then they really look like water spots that have been eaten into the clear coat...damn it

i have the same problem. it looks as if my car was in an acidic rainfall... just the hood though, by the windshield wipers. clay bar won't take it off, neither will the top shelf acid rain removers.

I say your best bet is to take it to a professional and let them try to buff it out

Ya seems like they are from sprinklers cause mainly on the right side of the car....doesn't look like claybar will do the job..its like totally under the clear coat lol

but ill give that a try first since its the cheapest alternative..

I've got the same problem, been like that for a while now. Was thinking about trying a clay bar, but didn't seem like it'd work, so it's good to see someone confirm it. I too tried rubbing compound, even several times on the same spot, but didn't have any effect. Mine's not just the hood, but the hatch too.

Not sure, but I think it may have been caused by the acid in bird poop eating through the top of the clearcoat. Oh well, at least they're kinda hard to see unless you look for them and are at the right angle with good light.

mine definitely aren't from bird droppings. mine are like the OP's, they looks like water spots. I'm thinking it's gotta be some sort of acid, maybe from sprinklers, who knows. all i know is clay barring won't help. at least my case it didn't.

Just bought a claybar kit for $20 and it did not work, it must of worked for your brother because he probably did it the next day. Mine seems like its etched in there already, its not all pale/white looking like its dried up. I gotta hit up a detailer.....once you wax it it looks fine but at an angle..man its nasty..

Clay bars won't remove hard water spots. You need to use a polish with a cutting agent.
