Default Using 4-9005 bulbs...is that a problem?

Well I just read about the thread on replacing your stock 9006 halogens with silverstar 9005(along with some modifications)

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...121672&start=0

I just have a few questions now:

1. Im looking for a FIRM anwser about the wattage difference. From the stock lowbeam harness of 55w to 65w highbeams requirement(9005), will I be having problems? I read that people have been running them from 30 mins to 10 months now with no problems so far.

2. If I decided to replace my 9006 with silverstars 9005 and then replace the stock highbeams with the same ones (A total of 4 blubs), Will I have any problems drawing wattage?

Thanks in Advance!

I am going to be attempting this one in a few days, but I can already say there will be no problems with wattage. In my previous car, I changed from a pair of 55w bulbs to a pair of 65w bulbs and it made no difference to anything. Nothing fried and nothing had problems drawing power.

no problem.

5 watts will not effect your harness, maybe over time, but it wont happen for YEARS.

also, you wont notice any difference, even if there is a difference, im sure it would be negligible.

They vary in price. How do I know if theyre legit or not? Or should I just go buy them in stores?

Yes. Exactly the same in this case.

Some people say don't get the Ultras, but the price difference on eBay is a couple of bucks. I don't mind paying a couple of dollars extra to get a potentially better product. Even if they are not better than the Silverstars, I won't be bummed about my $2 loss.

Sort of and nope.

Both of your harness' are wired exactly the same aside from the 9005 or 9006 socket at the end and the only difference in them is the casting of the plastic to receive one or the other bulb. It would cost toyota/denso a lot to produce two of essentially the same thing on two different assembly lines for the sake of 10 watts.

There is a difference in light output, 9005 bulbs are 65W and are not capped at the end, and 9006 bulbs are 55W and have a cap at the end. The light increase is from the increase in lumens from the 9005 bulb. A 9005 bulb has 70% more lumens than the 9006 (1700 lumens vs. 1000 lumens).
In comparison an OEM 4300k HID has somewhere around 3200 lumens yet they are only 35w.

I went to look at bulbs today and I saw so many different type of 9005.

EX:
9005 SU
9005 SU/2
9005 SS
9005 Xy

These are a combination of brands, however.

WHICH ONE TO GET?!

Well I got SU/2 without even thinking about it. Don't know what the differences are.
