Default Wax removal on mud guards and plastic...

Well, I've tried several things, and I can't seem to find out how in the world to get the white wax off of my mud guards or the plastic part on the sideview mirrors. Anybody with a solution? Thanks in advance. I wish I would have been more careful when I was waxing...

HAHA, I was using an orbital and just bumped into them unintentionally. Or at least, thought it would be easy to remove afterward...

I don't know if it would remove the wax, but I bet some plastic/rubber dressing would get rid of the white.

I think I did try that... I also tried "wet n' black" tire cleaner on a rag... works for about a day.

Thanks for the suggestion!

How about regular ol' dishsoap? I know that will remove wax from the paint, so it would probably take wax off of textured plastic with a little rubbing.

rubbing alcohol + a mr. clean magic eraser works pretty well. Gets rid of a lot of it with some work. Don't expect perfection but it should get rid a LOT of it, to the point where you can just dress it with some trim dressing or tire foam and it should no longer be visible.

Oh... be careful with the magic eraser around paint. I would imagine it could scratch up the paint.

I wax my mud guards. Of course I painted mine black too.

P.S. Try Coke to remove the wax.
If it can work as a bug remover on your windshield, it might just remove the wax on your 'guards.

so coke and peanut butter? :-) tasty. I like the idea of dish soap or the mr. clean eraser... I think i'll try those first, and then... well off to the coke and peanut butter. Sorry to say, my car is all gray and white and nasty from the sloppy roads around here anyway, so it might be a little while before I get her all cleaned up and put these ideas to the test.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll let you know what works. It's always been frustrating to have a show-room-clean car, and then have these half white mud guards.

I found this stuff at autopia:

I picked it up when it started getting cold so haven't had a chance to use it.

I have heard the peanut butter one too. I saw a demo on a mustang and it seemed to work well.
