Default What kind of vinyl for overlays?

I was wondering what kind of vinyl I need to use to make my own overlays? I have a local shop that's willing to sell me a 5 foot sheet of vinyl for $20 so I can do my own overlays. The problem is they have no idea what kind of vinyl to use (it's an old couple and they seem to only do store signs and banners). I searched and it looks like 3m 7yr vinyl is the one to go with but that's about all I can find on it (no color, no type, no number). Can anyone help? I'm on a really tight budget and this is going to be my first mod and I want my tc blacked out. Thanks!

search this site for "smoked tail lights" you'll find different options. I went with www.headlightaromor.com.

Those are for kits... which are already pre-cut and ready to go. You can also get those from RockBlocker and BlueBatmobile, here on SL.

What he's asking for is the vinyl sheets to make his own. The only thing I'd maybe suggest is to contact BlueBatmobile and ask ... though he may be a bit reluctant, since if I were him, I'd rather you just buy the ones that I make...

If you are looking for sign vinyl http://www.signwarehouse.com has a lot of info. Even the most expensive sign vinyl is pretty cheap - I am sure you could get some free scraps from a sign shop if you asked nice.

I would avoid window tint at all costs. When you have your car re-tinted they have to scrape it off with a razor blade most of the time.

Good luck with your project!
