Default the white look of CCFL's...

so im putting in umnitza's CCFL's into a my headlights when i do my projector retrofit project... IMO i dont like how the rings are bare butt white when theyre turned off cause they would stick out like a sore thumb on the black headlight housing...

i could:

1) paint the headlight housing white to blend the CCFL bulbs once everything is done...

2) buy a clear smoke spray to smoke the bulbs so that they wont be as noticable... BUT HOW WOULD THAT AFFECT THE LIGHT OUTPUT OF THE BULBS?

3) suck it up and install them as is on a black housing...

opinions? what do you guys think?

Tint spray like VHT doesn't effect light output that much if it's a light coat. If you just want them to be less noticeble then you shouldn't need too much VHT on the CCFLs. My concern with that would be how well the VHT tolerates the heat from the headlight bulbs.

ive read up on Maximus96 post's many times and he did a great job with the retrofit... thats where i got the idea of painting the housing... and he does have ccfl rings with a plastic covering that sort of masks the white... i believe theyre bmw e46 halo's...

i have already received the rings from umnitza and asked if they would have a plastic cover for the rings but they said that they wouldn't be out with them for the tc's for another 6-8 months...

i have a white tc with tint, black rims, and the tyc taillights (black housing where there's deadspace) and IMO the black headlight housing adds to the general look and flow of the color scheme... white housing would offset the style im shooting for...

i think i MIGHT just pick up a can of Van's smoke spray and see how the light output looks like and what tempertature it's rated for... im just picky and i just wanted to get some feedback from the community here... im sure all of you owners here are just as selective with the way your rides look... to each is his/her own... oh well... i want it just right you know? opinions?

I also have a SW tC w/ tint and black rims. I have CCFL's in my headlights along w/ the projectors. They're looking alrite right now. I usually just leave the DDE on all the time.
Here's some pics if you're interested.

I'm using E46 Bi-xenons. First I mounted the projectors then I made a shroud out of material I found at Home Depot. The E46 Bi-xenons are very big and very hard to put in. TSX ones should be alot easier to put in because of its size. Which projectors are you getting?

Yea... It takes alot of test fitting. Do you have JB Weld? It helps alot.
The E46 single xenons should be alot easier because you won't have the Bi-xenon part that sticks out through the back.
