Default WHY DOES THE PAINT SUCK?!

I wanted to find why the quality of our paint suck?

Ok, here is my story. I was getting coming out of my school's admissions building when I saw this guy who was parked right next to me get out of his car. As I came closer I heard thud from his door hitting the side of my car . It wasn't like he hit my car hella hard, but he manage to get a 3 inch scratch on the side of my door. I could buff it out and everything so no worries there, but why is the paint on the tC suck in terms of the quality?

the tC paint is thin, but you should have kicked that guys butt for hitting your car. How careless...

well, regardless of what brand of car it is, you would've gotten a scratch in a situation like that regardless.

still, it is kinda soft, but overall, it is manageable if you take care of it.

i wasn't tripping about it because like i said i can buff it out, but it frustrates me to know the tC has one of the worst paint quality for a car in its class . i think im going save up and invest in getting all my chips and scratches touched up and re-clearcoating the whole car. FM tC's are too beautiful to have ugly, annoying chips and scratches on them.

That's why I dont park next to someone with a cheaper car.. I park either alone out in the boonies and I'll walk across the parking lot, or I'll park next to a car that is WAY more expensive than mine so they are looking out for their car, rather than mine..

I have chips in the paint from where bugs have hit the bumper.

my front bumper is massacred by bugs and rock after 10k miles. In certain light, I can see the dents that bugs have created on my bumper's paint. Makes me wish I did invest 200 bucks on a clear bra for my hood and bumper.

wow, can't believe the tC's paint job is that bad. i ddin't feel that way at first, but having realized the whole car has "orange peel" affect and some chips from bugs really didi it. actually having an orange peel paint job kinda did it for me. i still take care of my car, but no matter how much ppl say you should take care of your tC, it still doesn't justify that the paint isn't a quality job.

someone said it's one of the worst in the class... so is that true? our paint is worse than neons, civics, etc??? i've seen recent year cars like civics and neons that the paint is just fading badly... i always thought it was the owners not waxing their car. hopefully the tC won't be the case here.

200-250 installed is what my sisters TSX and her bf's g35 costed. I would assume the tc would be around that price too.

Yup. Gotta agree. I've got a BSP and it's pure garbage. I have to park it next to my window at work so I can monitor bird poop. If it's on the car more than an hour, the paint is damaged to the point of no return. I keep a bottle of Quickdetailer for it. That and the orange peel really ticks me off. This is my 3rd Scion, and unless the paint issue clears up, it'll be my last. Shame really. I love the cars.

Not sure. Mine's an '06, so it's possible. BTW, I used to live in Alexandria and work in Arlington. I agree about the poop roads! BUT! My '04 xB RS1's paint held up fine!

the paint sucks because you paid $17k for your car. they cut corners to make the car cheap, this was one of the corners

Is it the same for the Camry, though? I mean, a Camry can be had for about the same price (ok maybe not the same but you all know what I'm getting at)

I've seen a TL scrapped the crap out of the side of another car trying to get into a spot. Doesn't matter what car it is, a lot of people can't park.

I would kick that guy's ___ if I was still sitting in my car and they scratch it and make some of my own marks on their car. I hate people that can't park and try to cram into a spot.

I noticed on my white tc small spakles of rust looking spots on the paint. Has anyone else noticed or seen this problem on there white tc?

i think there might be an issue with toyota's paint (excluding lexus of course). i take care of my paint really well, (i think...) but it still looks pretty bad in direct sunlight. my front bumper and hood is trashed after 20k, a lot of highway miles. but yes, my mom's 04 corolla has a rust spot on the roof! wtf!? well, the cheap price of the car's has to show somehow.

I really can't agree with that. I had an '04 xB Hot Lava that was great! My wife's xA is Indigo Blue and hers is great, too. That's a 14k car and a 12k car. I belong to Scion Evolution in Memphis, and have noticed the xBs and xAs paint seem to stand up better. We have no '06 xBs or xAs for me to compare with, tho, so I'm thinking '06 is a problem year.
