I have a 07 Scion tC, there is a small sticker on both door windows that state something like, this car has equipment that can track it if stolen. Something to that effect. Does everyone have these stickers on their cars? If so, how does this work, I don't have a security system. Do you think it's there to prevent theft of the car? Also, the red blinking light that comes on when the car is locked, what is it for?

 

Sounds like an alarm system---did you buy new? What was listed on the invoice????

 

Yes, I brought it new. I had orginally ordered the alarm system, but changed my mind after it took so long to receive the car. Do you think that they added the alarm and then disabled it when I stated I no longer wanted it? I wasn't charged for one, the window sticker which lists the options on the car would not have included the alarm because it is usually added by the dealer, like the fog lights. I tried testing to see if I had an alarm by tapping on the windows with my keys, and by opening the car door with the window down after locking the door, but nothing happened. Do all the Scion keys have the panic buttons on them?

 

Well I believe my tC came with an alarm already installed, although I haven't tested it yet. The window sticker had something about "security system" for $250, although the $250 wasn't included in the price I paid (I paid base). My red light blinks when the doors are locked. I think I'll test the panic button tomorrow.

 

hmm.. sounds more like the useless tracking stickers that have like acid etched serial numbers on various pieces of the car.

as far as the blinking light? engine immobilizer..

as far as your keys? all of them have keyless entry and the panic button to go along with it.

 

Sometimes the sensitivity has to be turned up on the sensor. (If you even have the Scion Security System.) I used to have stickers on windows but the tint guy took them off when he tinted my windows.

 

mines came with those "security tracking" stickers too! i think it's just to scare thieves off, 'cause i'm pretty sure i didn't order no add-on alarm with my new tc..

 

Mine didn't have any sticker and I bought a lowjack from the dealer.

 

I have an 07 Spec tC and it has the Panic but no alarm, not even an engine immobilizer(the Spec option doesn't include it). But that blinking red dot you have is for the engine immobilizer like others said.
