window tint
if i tint on my front windows and a cop pulls me over and tells me to take it off right there do i have to or no.please let me know cause im getting my windows tinted limo in the back and 25% in the front
No. He will just give you a ticket. If he's nice, he may tell you to pull it off within a certain amount of time, then get in contact with him or the Police department, or whatever, and then cancel the ticket, but the real answer is no. I'd just be safe and go with the legal limit... Thats what I did.

YES! YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF WHEN HE SAYS, 25% IS ILLEGAL EVERYWHERE. AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF AND THEN CLEAN THE GLUE OFF THE WINDOW WHEN YOU GET HOME.

That would be a negative there.... In GA, they tell you that you better take it off. Trust me. I know for a fact....... 5% tint when legal limit was 35.

35% is the closest most tint shops will do in Illinois, they still tell you all about the laws n all and some make you sign a waver. But who wants to get their windows down without the front also. Looks kinda goofy that way IMO.
I'm not sure about tint laws anywhere else, but in NE it can't be any darker than 35% up front, 20% in back. I used to have 5% on my old Camry and was pulled over solely based on dark tint. Got a fix-it ticket for that (had my tint person strip the dark stuff off, had the ticket signed, then had lighter (but still illegal) tint reapplied). I also got a $48 ticket for driving with my fog lights on that day (mind you, it was very overcast...about to be a thunderstorm), so I don't understand that.
I still have illegal tint on my tC, but it has faded slightly in the last few years...at least I thought it did. Got stopped for speeding the other day, and the officer that stopped me got the `ol tint meter out and measured my front windows at 18% and rears at 11%. Luckily, I got away with only a speeding ticket. I will always tint my windows, and I don't like the light stuff. I understand the whole "officer safety" aspect, but as long as you roll them down and use your dome light (at night), and be respectful to the officer, you should be fine. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.
To me, it would be ridiculous for an officer to "force" you to peel your tint off right there and then, on the roadside. That seems like a waste of their time and yours.

I think i read on these forums that if u get your front windows tinted and u get into an accident, its either that the accident becomes your fault or Insurance could deny your claim. I forget.

I have had my windows tinted for a long time and I have only been pulled over for it once. whene he put the meter on it came back with a 2% reading and he said to take it off or just get ticketed for it again. And as for the insurance thing one of my cars with 2% tint got a window broken in a crash and they payed to have it redone and they still payed the bills and never tryed to blame the crash on the tint so just tint them as dark as you want but just know that if you get pulled over to put your windows down and you might get a ticket.
Fla cops arnt bad, im in miami, and whenever you go to the beach, thats all cops can do there...is right up tint tickets, since the traffic there is bumper to bumper thers cops just walking around, with the tint check, theyll go up to ur car knock on ur window, and tell you to roll it down so they can check it. but thats the beach for you. if you get a ticket you can just pay it, or remove it and show ur ticket clerk, so the ticket is gone. the tint ticket is not as bad as a speeding ticket, its on par w/ a parking ticket it...jsut a bit more expensive. I got my ticket at the beach, the day after i threw on 5%'s. the reason was because i was an idiot, at the beach w/ my windows up b/c of the 3 day grace period u gota give your windows. luckily for the check i didnt get bubbles. i just paid it and kept them on, just drive with your windows down, put them up, whnever you see a cop roll them back down. cops wont pull people over when their windows are down, unless your speeding or doing somthing illegal. be smart, get the tint u want, just work around it.
Where I'm at it has to be 35% all around in a car but in a SUV its 35% for the front two an as dark as u want'em in the back. That I don't understand you can fit more ppl with guns in the back of a SUV that u can in a car lol an bigger guns too! lol oh well I kept mine at 35% all the way around looks good too lol.
