Default Yakima Roof Rack

I plan on getting a Yakima roof rack soon to hold my 2 surfboards so I don't have the shove them in the back anymore with my passenger seat down and one over my head lol.

I know Yakima makes a unit to hold surfboards, however I was wondering if anyone else had a roof rack to transport their boards and used a different setup to hold them seeing as the Yakima ones are a bit expensive.

I have a 6'8 and a 7'9 so they arent too long, more of a fun shape.

geeeez my longest board is 5'10. i'd say go with the softracks as long as you're not driving any faster than 50. just tighten the straps real good, upside down, fins towards the front end of the car so it won't catch as much wind. plus softracks are soo easy to put on and remove and are only around 50 bucks.

as for the yakima rack. i read on another forum that a guy installed racks on his car and was able to use his sunroof with no problems. he just replaced a few of the bolts. i'm pretty sure he's a member here too.

Yes but it can be dealt with. Here's what I did on mine - http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t250992.html - the sunroof works just fine now.
