Default 05 engine in 07 tC?

stupid question i know, but i have my reasons for doing it.

Would an 05-06 engine directly swap into an 07 tC? what would i have to change so that it would fit, i know the engine itself will just drop into place, but what would i have to change electronically?

i plan to build a motor and eventually be boosted, and i want to do this all on a spare motor i can build in my garage and once im done drop it into my tC, so if i do blow a motor i wouldnt care, i would have another engine to drop in.

please give me any advice, and by the way, i plan to build the 05 engine.

and as far as smog and all that is concerned, honestly, if i cared about all that i wouldnt be going turbo.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

you will need to swap with an 05/06 ECU for sure

not sure about anything else

bump for an answer.

i normally dont ask stupid questions, but this i want to know.

the 07's have different pistons, so i wouldnt even be able to buy low compression pistons from ZPI..

i could just turbo my motor that i currently have, but i personally believe the 05-06 has a better engine for boost simply because of lower compression.

i would be using the 05-06 engine/tranny/ecu/maf sensor

i think with that i would be fine, but i want to make sure.

i really dont think 9.6:1 and 9.8:1 is really that big of a difference, the thing i really like about the 07 is the oil squirters.

so IMO, either or is fine to be turbo'd

ya, i know the compression is really close, however the pistons are different. however i could always have some custom pistons fabbed up..

also, it will be easier/cheaper to get an 05-06 motor because there are so many more wrecked compared to 07's from what i have seen at the local junkyards and what not.

also, there are ALOT more turbo kits avaiilble for the previous models, i mean most likely i will be going with a turbotoyotas manifold and go custom from there, but it would be nice to know everything will fit just fine.

and why are you the only one answering

The best place to get any answer for something like this is not at some forums, but by calling a tuner company (IE XS engineering, HKS, AEM, etc...) and finding the information from them.
