05 Scion tC High rpms..
I have a 2005 Scion tC with about 220,000 miles on it it is a 5-speed when I'm driving on the freeway going 60 miles an hour in 5th gear my RPM is already at about 3,000 when I'm at 70 miles an hour I'm pushing 4000 RPM is this normal for a Scion
this year with this many miles I feel like if I go 80 miles an hour I'm going to blow the motor up is that how these cars were meant to run and if it was meant to run like this is it safe to run my car at 80 miles an hour I feel like I'm I'm pushing the engine too hard.

I would start by checking your output speed sensor, same identical thing happened to me last week, my dumbass didnt think to check the speed sensors, so I went ahead and did a tranny swap thinking it was slipping in 4th....this is day 6, just got done yesterday, and now I cant get it to start.....but yeah check your speed sensors, I guarantee you that's most likely the problem!
This is normal as the Scion tC has a Close-Gear Ratio Transmission (Short Gear), It can feel like the engine is going to blow but it shouldn't as long you stay on top of maintenance and check oil level often.
