Default 100,000,000,000th thread about rasp

sorry guys i know this is the most annoying thread but i just got my header back on its alpha works header, megan s pipe, megan mid pipe with two resonators, and TRD axle back and rasp is still a problem because TRD is one raspy mother. so im looking for something different hopefully through a trade, i like the OEM hidden muffler look but if i cant get that oh well, so witch ones have the least rasp with hidden mufflers, magnaflow, megan? and as far as big cans go what should i look for? how is Tsudo? thanks a lot guys sorry again for the redundant thread

don't have the header on so i cant say, but i do know that once i put it on that the TRD is going bye bye. my friend had a setup with a TRD and a header and it was just horrible. he switched back to the stock axle back and it got to a more manageable rasp level. the TRD axle back is probably the worst thing you could have if you don't like rasp with a header

Anyone try Magnaflow mufflers? I had one on my old S4 and it sounded deep. Granted the car was turbo'd .. but it sounded good.

dunno if this will work out for you but on my old car, i had 2 resonators also, with header, and catback... i told the muffler shop guy to put the other resonator backwards (what i mean is, if you look inside the resonator, it has those little hole thingy that kinda looks like this < < < < < , have them flip that backwards so that little hole thingys are facing the exhaust flow like this > > > > that is if the exhaust flow goes this way ---> then the flow would catch into the holes like so --> > --> > --> > and it would circulate more into the resonator to keep that rasp down. sorry for the lack of picture, but hopefully u catch my drift. i did this and it actually toned down my exhaust and gave that deep tone sound i was looking for.

ahh what the hell... paint FTW!

glad it helped. it will, but anything with a resonator will hurt performance, but at least your not too raspy.

i'm sure anything will be an improvement over the trd. go precision for the oem look, hks for a angled look and more sound. simple.

you'll be fine for a while. MMW/weapon r ones dont produce as much rasp. i had a stock axleback and mid-pipe on with my mmw header, and no one complained about the sound.

i have the same problem as you, but am getting a completely different exhaust setup and having a shop fabricate a resonator to hold up on rasp. i have the megan racing drift spec on there now and it is SO LOUD and SO RASPY. taking my car to the shop on the 25th to get the new exhaust done, so i will post up then.

i was on stock axleback, meaning the rasp would probably be more apparent. but i switched to precision muffler then to a skunk2, as you can see in my profile.

skunk2, obviously since it's a full catback and has a deep growl, whereas the precisionmuffler's not meant to have a really deep tone. not sure if it'll help at all but here's some sound clips of mine.
