^^ no pics?

also, understand this guys... when you put a full on non-restrictive exhaust and/or header, it will make it louder no matter what. ;)

i just got finished installing my stock axleback and i must tell you its like night and day. yeah there is still rasp but its not as bad and 10x softer then with the TRD. i have videos that i will post later of the difference between the 2

Edit: videos didn't come out right the sound is all screwy... its hard to get what things really sound like on a digi cam lol

but i assure you, if you still have the stock axleback around . put it back on asap. its a world of a difference

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I just went to teh muffler shop, and got my Areo 25 put on. I run a Weapon R header and S-Pipe, with a TRD exhaust with all stock pipe. he welded it between the Cat and the Stock Resonator so he would not have to change the pipe size. (It fit perfectly between them). Now the diarrhea sound (rasp) from my exhaust is quieted down to a constant fart, (quiet) but no more diarrhea . This would be for the people not wanting to spend a lot of money and need a quick fix.

ya, cost me 50 something for the AR25 shipped and then 50.00 for the cut 'n weld job at a local muffler shop here in Austin. it was worth every penny and then some.

any negatives from running a stock mid pipe?

Not really, prolly a small loss of power but it is still better than going back to a stock intake manifold. You can still hear your exhaust but it is just smoother sounding. because of the areo 25 being 2 1/2 inch pipe and stock being 2 1/4 it just welds in real nice with no modification besides cutting the pipe between the cat and the mid pipe. Only cost 20 to have it installed.

why would ppl get the Megan mid pipe if it's the same as the stock size? is there something special about the way they developed it?

why go through all that trouble. i say put your stock header back on and just do a full s-pipe back exhaust system. that way you can get whatever exhaust you want with a nice clean sound. and the performance would be just about the same.

intake/full open exhaust >>>>>> header + customized exhaust

i dont think the performance would be the same. the stock header is still very restrictive. also, why put a non restrictive intake and leave the header stock where it needs to breathe out as fast as it breathes in.

this is the downside when you start modifying exhaust flow. put a header, have some gain, do a full exhaust with s pipe, better flow, downside, too loud. add a resonator, now ur restricting it again, BUT not as much as it was stock. and at least now your actually breathing in/out better than stock. it has very minimum restriction going on. the question to this now is, how loud will it get if i get X header with X exhaust combo? this is where u need to test it out urself and spend lots of money just to satisfy yourself with the tone ur looking for. if u dont care about the sound, then hell, go for a straight 2.5" exhaust with no resonator... u might see flames come out of the exhaust if u do this, that is if u run ur car rich. but thats another topic for tuning.

hey i have MMW header and s pipe with factory midpipe with an aero25 welded in and with a trd axel back. i was highly considering the skunk2 catback with the aero25 put in that as well or getting a tanabe concept g and keep the midpipe i got now. rasp isnt really the prob with me. its the straight through smell and the sound level of the exhaust. just a lil too loud for me. but here are videos of mine with trd axel back and megan drift spec axel back with the same midpipe header and s pipe.
hope this helps.
