2006 Scion tC horsepower/torque just died! Help!
Hello all, this morning I got in my car to go to work. Everything was fine, car drove normally, still felt like it has for the past 5 years. I noticed my gas light is on so I went and got gas, $48.50 later I was back on my way to work. I put approx 12.3 gallons in so it was kinda low. It still continued to drive fine for the 20min drive to work.
So I went on lunch today and the car literally feels like it has half the horsepower/torque. I will note that I live in Louisville and we have gotten 3-4 days of rain. What is a good way to find out if the problem is the gas I got? If the gas station had water in the tanks is there a solution I can put in there to make it get rid of the excess water? I got fuel treatment from Lucas but don't want to put it in if I should do something else first.
The car feels a bit sluggish when accelerating, the RPM's seem to be higher than normal when at speed also. The good news is, I have 100k mile bumper to bumper. Just freaked me out.
No CEL's or any other lights telling me there is a problem being reported

Sounds like the VVTI on the intake cam gear failed. When you accelerate hard is the air intake louder than normal? Toyota never recalled this part but there is a service bulitin and a new part and part number. Hope this helps.

I know you were just guessing, but the battery will not cause anything to lose torque or hp. Battery is used only for starting a vehicle, power to accessories when the engine is off, and most importantly as a voltage regulator to the car when it is running. A clutch problem would also mean the transmission is not engaging and is a huge difference then losing power.
