Default 2006 tC Automatic Dyno ?

I have a 2006 tC with an Automatic trans. i have ProScan OBD II Scan. It can do est. dyno passes and 1/4 mi. times.

My questions is what gear do you dyno our auto in? Do i run the dyno in 2nd? or do I run it in 3rd?

Someone please help!!

Thanks a million guys!

2nd or 3rd is okay, but just make sure you input the corresponding aspect ratio into the tool!

also, dont just floor it because the car will downshift! you need to slowly push the pedal to the floor so it stays in one gear

Well what i found out is that in 2nd gear you can go up to 3000 RPM and floor it and the trans will not downshift into 1st.

Mike, what do you mean when you say "just make sure you input the corresponding aspect ratio into the tool!"

the tool asks me to set up the Drive Ratio which they tell me is calculated by:
(.0006 x Wheel Circumferance)/(Transmission Gear Ratio x Axle Ratio)

is that what you mean?

I found out online what the Auto Gear Ratios are, but does anyone else know b/c i only found the numbers from one website and i just want to double check. Also, does anyone know what they mean by Axle Ratio...i just put in ratio for Final Drive...is this right??

I appriciate all the help!
Thanks Everyone!!

yea, if you floor it in 2nd gear after 3k rpm, put in the aspect ratio of 2nd gear

i dont know what it is off the top of my head, but it is in a FAQ on this site...

i'm not sure what axle ratio is, my tool just asks for weight, wheel circ, aspect ratio, tire width

kool, thanks mike.

hey KJ are those typical #s for just an intake and exhauston an auto? also, when you dynoed yours in third how did you do it, did you wait until a certain RPM and then floor it or did you just gradually get on the gas? let me know b/c i would love to get some rough base numbers before i put my mods on.

Thanks Again

Those arent typical numbers for just an intake and an exhaust. That dyno was probably setup wrong. Stock is around 122hp.

obd ii dyno and real dyno's are completely different, obd's will just give you an estimate based on your RPM / SPEED once it knows all of your vehicle's info (weight, gear, etc)

but its the same concept about gradually flooring it to prevent downshifting

Not sure if they are typical numbers or not. The way they dynoed it was put it into third and gradually get it to the rev limiter. I know all dyno numbers are going to be different because of different dyno settings or conditions and such. here is the dyno sheet.

i thought the stock hp was like 163hp? I know it says that on my window sticker that told all what the car had.

Due to parasitic loss, and the auto tranny, the hp to the wheels should be about 15-20% less than the advertised power to the crank, but man, if its "suppose" to in the low 120's, thats a big loss.

^^ What he said. Typical hp loss on an auto is 15-20%, which would be as low as 133hp at the wheels. 145 is pretty accurate for intake and exhaust, but every dyno is different. I dynoed mine stock and it was 146hp, but mine is a 5spd.
