2009 - Blown engine
I wanted to see if anyone here has had a problem similar to mine. Two days ago while driving my check engine light came on. Naturally, I assumed that I might have left the gas cap not fully screwed in so I pulled over to the side. As I slowed down I noticed the engine was making a strange noise. I checked the gas cap and there was no issue with that. I then opened the hood even though no smoke or anything was coming out. When I opened the hood I noticed oil with a mixture of something splattered inside the hood. After this I was unable to start the engine at all so I had to have my car towed to the dealership nearby. Yesterday I got a call saying that my whole engine was blown due to overheating. Here's the thing though, my temp gauge never went up nor did I receive any other warning that my vehicle was overheating. I have also been diligent in ensuring that all my fluid levels are normal so I have no idea how this could've happened.
Do a compression check first and also check your dipstick for a milky greenish mixture (indicating blown head gasket). If compression is 160+ on all 4 cylinders and oil looks normal then you will have to do further diagnosing.
