Default 87 or 91 Octane gasoline on stock tCs?

OK, I'm lost I have seen another forum about this and it was never ending with no real answer.
Should a stock tC not supercharged be running on 91 or 87 octane?
And does the brand of gas really matter?
Of course I know Vons/Ralphs and stuff like that suck, but Arco/Shell/Mobil the big names, what's best and with what octane should the motor use?

if your car is stock or with a few bolt-ons then you should be running 87 but could go for 89 but there won't be a difference, as far as running 91 you only run that if you are supercharged or turbo...other than that you don't have to nor will it give you more power.

87 is what you need. Unless you're getting pre-ignition pinging, there's NOTHING that a higher octane gas will do for you except cost more money.

And all the gas is refined by two or three companies and sold to all the stations. There are standards thatg t____ all must meet. Other than possible additives, the gas should be pretty much the same.

If you can't figure out from that thread, you should probably hang up your keys. Seriously. I don't even mean any disrespect with that. It's spelled out in the owner's manual as well. Seems pretty simple.

Brand is a potential issue, but also discussed in that other thread. If you want good stuff, visit toptiergas.com and use one of those brands.
