AEM intake is here
I went to my local dealer today and the parts department said that the AEM CAI intake was ready to ship and I could have one in three days. I told him that i didn't think that it was available yet but he checked with the parts department manager and he said that it was available, $330 and it could be mine by monday!!! Anybody heard of the news? Is this true??

People I know from Scion made a trip to the facility in Japan to learn about upcoming models, accessories, etc. They were told that the AEM as well as the SC will be delayed until Fall.

Excuse me for asking such a novice question, but why are people waiting it out for AEM CAI when there are many other CAI out there, mainly K&N? Almost everyone I know says "I've got K&N"
Will the AEM intake surpass other intakes, is it better quality, or what's going on? Since I am still going to wait until July/August to get my intake, someone please tell me why AEM will be worth the wait...or if I should just go for K&N

yeah, malina is right as far as i know. the AEM intake is not supposed to void your warranty because it is a dealer carried and installed option.
as far as the dealer taking your money/deposit for one, i paid for one back in august when they said that it was supposed to be out in september. sept. came and went so i got my money back and decided to wait until it came out, evven if i had to pay extra for installation because it wasn't part of the original deal for the car. so they will take your money no problem without it being close to the release date for it, and some will probably lie to you to get your money.

I meant specs-wise. Will it be on par with K&N's tC CAI? Also, what if you buy it and install it yourself? Would it still be covered under the warranty then (there's always loopholes)? Intake installation is just too simple for Toyota to charge me to do it.

my understanding is that they have to install it for it to be warranty covered. otherwise they could claim that even though it is a dealer carried product it was your installation that caused the problem, if one arises. they are money hungry, so they do that on purpose.
as far as power gains, i have heard that the K&N intake is supposed to have a bigger power gain than the AEM.

I think the reasons why people like AEM CAI are because the AEM CAI are street legal (Carb Exempt ID on the actual filter itself.) Back in the day, when i would get pulled over, my aftermarket parts that had Carb Exempt stamps on them were normally excused i.e. certain DC Headers, AEM CAI,... etc...

I heard from my friend that AEM V2 CAI, which was released for his RSX Type S, is better than K&N CAI. The other reason has already been discussed, which is street legal. That's the most important reason people waiting for AEM CAI. I am one of them.

Either way I wish something would be available before fall.
