I was getting my 1st complimentary service the other day at Northridge Toyota and the parts guy told me the CAI is available also, but did not tell me how long it would take to get it in. The computer had it listed at 350 bucks and I wasn't sure I wanted to pay that much up front until I knew I was getting it for sure.

The dealers can place an order for one, but it will eventually get cancelled. At least that is what my dealer tried. So maybe that is what they were thinking.

Scion Puerto Rico website lists AEM CAI.

http://www.scionpr.com

I'm sure it does not come with a CARB number, but there is a good chance you can ask somebody from PR to get it for you from a dealer and ship to the mainland.

Just a thought. Oh, and I've got K&N. ;)

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Assoc) covers us in this regard, one standalone part will not void your warranty unless proven to cause the malfunction. I've heard horror stories of dealers blaming excessive oil on a K&N air filter cause things like MAF sensors to go bad but thats all hearsay. Basically a dealer must prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. They can NOT void your entire warranty for one aftermarket part. If your dealer gives you problems then go to another dealer.

I talked to a scion dealer they told me there's no way they can void your warranty unless they have proof that it was your aftermarket part that ruined your car.

This is from McGeorge's website:

"IT dosn't look good for the cold air intake from AEM so far, All the designs that will pass CARB ,do not have enough HP gains to make it worthwhile to sell or install ."

Does not sound too good, does it not?

They probably dont have any better data than we do seeing as they get it from the same place.

CARB exempt what the hell is that oh wait thats right CA doesnt let you do anything to your car stupd state, but what are you other people worried about the CARB exempt thing for? I dont think they do a under the hood inspection anymore, and the intake does not set off your CEL so you have nothing to worry about because all they do if plug into your OBD 2 and bam tahts it, aslong as your CEL is not on your fine unless yopu live in CA of course. Where pretty much everything is illegal unles you get CRAB exempt poohey. Is it because AEM has that by pass valve crap? if you take a look at where the filter is you will only get hydrolock on the tc if you go into a lake
