saw this ad on tv yesterday

http://www.aero-turbine.com/

i think its a joke not worth the money a few bucks shy of 200 dollars

what all yall think about it

i think this will go great with that turbine thing thats for the intake TB

just think of all that non power you'll be making

actually they do produce power. and they sound awesome. i still wouldnt spend that much money on it but it is nice. they can be found on ebay for alot cheaper than almost 200 more like 100- 150 so not too much more than a good generic exhaust and way cheaper than an authentic axle back pos

They work best on F/I setups...

Forced induction. It means having a turbo or supercharger.

Taken from the site:

Q: What is so different about AeroTurbine® muffler technology?

A: While AeroTurbine® mufflers offer significant advantages over competing mufflers, such as increased horsepower, torque, and fuel economy as well as lower temperatures, the source of these benefits comes down to airflow. After over three years of research in the aerodynamics of exhaust gases, we have developed the most technologically advanced muffler available. The AeroTurbine® uses the same basic design and technique as a jet engine. By diverting slower moving outside air around the faster moving inside air, it creates a vortex that literally pulls the air off the head and out of the exhaust. The outer air stream further acts as an insulator dampening the sound and lowering the exhaust tone. The AeroTurbine® also spools up the turbo faster, when one is available, because of the vacuum effect created by the turbine, thereby further increasing the vehicles performance.

It is such BS. I love how every gimmick uses some sort of vortex/tornado/whatever as some sort of new revolutionary power adding technology.

The sad thing is people will buy them and say how much of a difference it made to their cars.

I talked to my friend who is an aerospace engineer. He said some of the concepts they explain on the website are not correct. But, the cold air do flow in the center of the pipe, if the air inside the exhaust pipe spin like tornado.

I studied thermodynamic in undergrad 6years ago. Now I forget them completely... :?

They're not lying in saying that it will increase the velocity of the exhaust that gets through...but getting through is the problem.

Think of putting your thumb over the end of a hose. The water comes out faster, but you increase the pressure inside the hose. The same thing would probably happen here. The exhaust would indeed come out faster, but there would be increased back pressure.

as a college senior in mechanical engineering...i cannot see how this will work. They use alot of fancy talk about jet thrust....but with jet thrust the warm air pushing against the cool air is what gives thrust....the cool air doesnt "pull" anything out. I think the angle they are going for is to make the air swirl in the exhaust pipe to create a vortex so it flows smoother but putting there is NO WAY a tip on an exhaust will accomplish this. its a gimmick unless i can see a legit before/after dyno
