alphawerks header = no money problems

 

My understanding is that any after market header is not street legal because it will not pass emmissions because it removed one of the cats, hence the "Check Engine Light" problem. But I could be wrong.

How come it won't pass visual inspection?

 

Becuase they can see right away you removed the first cat... which is not legal.

Im afraid that it will sound like rice, since I got the TRD exhaust. Hopefully someone will have a review and sound clips.

 

the engine will almost certainly pass the sniffer test, just no way it will pass visual, most CARB legal headers have their CARB exemption number stamped right on the piping. If you find a shop that will overlook some visual stuff..........also new cars in Cali dont need smog for like 5 or 6 years from new, thats what your smog abatement fee is for.

 

What if you put that original cover back over the new header, might be overlooked.

which header is legal?

 

there are no headers available for the tC that are emissions legal. hopefully some will come out in the future though.

 

but you can put the steel cover that the stock have and you can pass the inspection, right?

 

if you dont live in a state with strict CARB tests, then i would guess its possible. here it NYC it is no possible.

so i can buy and instal the Megan Header and cover it with the steel cover for the inspection only and it can pass?
