Alternator install info
any one have any pointer on changing it. i know you need a 19mm socket rench or tool which i dont have. im not even sure if the socket rench set i have will be good enough or should i say long enough.
im looking for more step by step instructions, it seems pretty much bolt on, but after 2 hours of trying to loosen the belts w. a 3/4 wrench (which was all i could manage to find) i gave up. any tips and such would be a big help.

no no no no pipe , it works on some things but remember its angled and if he's useing a straight ratchet and it seems like he is.. he'll snap his tensioner!!! he need a swivel ratchet with yes 19mm socket.. and then he could use a pipe if needed..
I pulled my Altenator last weekend for an NST pulley install. It's not too bad.
Get a big breaker bar, and a 19mm socket and PULL the tensioner twoards the front of the car (If you are stading in front, pull twoards you) and slip the belt off the altenator pulley. I did use a ratchet and pipe for the removal just because the angle on the bolt didn't let me fully loosen the tensioner.
The top bolt is 14mm (i think) It's LONG will take a while to remove.
The bottom bolt is 12mm, not as long, but much harder to get to, I used a deep-well socket. it's almost at exactly 6'oclock on the Altenator and hard to see.
Once all the bolts are out, it's still attached pretty snugly, I used a big wrench to gently pry the altenator off the upper bracket. Putting it back on is a little more difficult, just be paitent and it helps to have a freind who can align the bolts while you wiggle it around. I used a hammer and a socket extension to gently tap it into place.
All sizes are from memory and likely wrong.
Hope that helps,
Sean

no, so supercharger, i wanted to test this H.O alternator that was damaged during shipping to still see if it functions and didnt want to pay for two installs, plus i wanted to learn how to do it. im not the best at cars by any means..
that does, thanks.
the way you did was the way i thought, just dont have the right tools (19mm).
but the way you pull is opposite of what was said above.
"no facing the hood you push away from you, always go to the left to loosen"
