Default Anyone ever throw a P0012 on a tC?

I have an 06 tC, 47k miles, and got a check engine light on Monday. It went off, but came back on today and I had a tester handy. Error code P0012 "Intake camshaft position timing over-retarded (bank 1)"

Apparently it's a problem with the VVT-i actuator, and it's a common problem with the 1NZ-FE's. There's a TSB for it for the xA and xB, but nothing as far as I can see for the tC. If anyone has a PDF of a TSB for this for a tC, please please post it up. It'll help when I take it in tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance.

Also, if you did have it, was it hard for the dealer to figure out what was wrong (if there isn't a TSB for it)

I did a quick search and found this... According to the invoice, they found that the VVTI controller (timing gear assembly) was stuck on the lock position. They had to remove the engine head cover, remove the camshaft and replace the VVTI gear assembly.

I think there is a TSB somewhere but i cant find it. But I hope this puts you on the correct track.

I searched the code : P0012 and came up with a TSB for the 2005-2006 tC produced BEFORE the production change VIN:
JTKDE1#7#60143882.
It is for the VVT-i actuator--

the TSB number is EG009-07 and the applicable warranty is the 5 year/ 60k warranty.

Hope that helps!

Default P0012..

This should be covered under your warranty up to 60k miles as the previous post says unless you have modified your engine with something like a turbo or supercharger other than the TRD S/C.
I am a Tech. for Toyota and have seen this code on many xB and tC models especially if the oil is not changed regularly.

There is a current TSB for the problem and any dealer will repair it that same day as long as they have the new gear in stock.

A header won't matter, right?

And I change my oil every 5k. Anyway it's going in tomorrow morning, hopefully they won't give me too much of a hassle.
