camshaft gear assembly
I have a 2006 XA with 50,000 miles that I bought brand new. My check-engine light came on and my buddy at a garage pulled the code P-0012 for a camshaft gear timing being retarded. I then took it to the dealer and they are keeping it for a couple of days because they said they would have to tear apart half the engine to put the new gear in for the camshaft. Are many of you experiencing this issue? I hope it won't affect the long-term operation of the vehicle. It is totally covered under warranty, but I hope it won't lead to more issues. I just had it in to the dealer for crankshaft sensor that was leaking oil that was also fixed under warranty (I have a 100,000 Warranty that I purchased). I thought these Toyota products were supposed to be extremely reliable. Please let me know if you have had the same issues.
