Default Anyone recognize this header?

It is being sold locally, but the guy doesn't know what brand it is. Came installed on his car when he bought it. He's only asking $40, but I don't want to buy it unless it is going to work with my car and not throw codes.

Also, does a header make your car sound different. I wouldn't mind it sounding a bit louder, but nothing annoying or raspy.

He also has an AEM Cold Air Intake for $85...

looks like my old OBX header. if you have a exhaust it will soud raspy. you will need a CEL eliminator installed on your s-pipe/downpipe so that you dont get a CEL when you install it.

if you get this header i got a extra CEL eliminator plug that i got for a local guy here but he never picked it up. ill send it to u for $10 shipped if you'd like???????

It will work with your car. All tC's have the same header design. It will throw a code because it has no cat, but a 5 dollar anti fouler (cel eliminator) will fix this problem. For 40 bucks, I'd take it. Hell if you don't pm me where its at so I can. lol

I have no exhaust, how will this sound with just a Cai, or even bone stock?
Also, I am an exhaust noob, why is it throwing a CEL, I'm not removing my catalytic converter. This just gets my exhaust gas from my engine block to the exhaust pipe faster, reducing backpressure.

Yeah, if I get the header, I will pm you. You just screw it in and done? Does this hurt the car or do anything to affect its longevity? HP gains?

There is a cat on the stock header that you are removing. Thats why.

Backpressure is somewhat a myth, no need to worry about it.

It will add some sound to it, however with a stock exhaust I have no idea how it would sound.

slightly louder, x2 on the antifouler, use on and also use a 90degree to make sure it kills the code

yes it will change the exhaust tone with it installed. Pretty much any aftermarket performance header and/or exhaust will change it.

The reason this happens is because by installing these parts, you are creating a more free flowing system. And simply put..by doing this the factory map in the ECU "sees" these changes as being outside of normal parameters.

Can you elaborate on what you mean here? I think you mean that backpressure's effects are misconstrued as a myth, but I don't want to assume.

that kinda looks like those JVT ebay headers but it could also be a strup or DME, the o2 sensor looks like it's welded on but atleast you'll have an extra 02 sensor. as for the antifouler it goes on the s-pipe pushing out the 2nd o2 sensor out abit so it can trick the ecu into thinking that you still have the first cat (the one on the header), and it will sound very raspy with the stock airbox or aftermarket intake unless you weld a resonator on the midpipe. i know because i ran headers with stock exhaust for a day or 2 and then removed it because it sounded worst than headers and aftermarket exhaust. either way for $40 i'd say get it as well as the aem intake as those aren't cheap new

yea all you do is unscrew the o2 sensor off the s-pipe, scew this plug into the s-pipe where the o2 sensor was, then screw the o2 sensor into the plug and thats it! you would need to make sure you have the battery disconnected before doing this so the CEL doesnt come on.

doesnt hurt the car in anyway, nor does it affect its longevity at all. no HP gains either. all it does is move the o2 sensor further back to make it "think" its still reading the exhaust gases that come out of the stock header after the cat...

pm me if you get it..

I have the weapon-r CAI, magnaflow exhaust, and I bought off-brand headers from eBay (which I don't recommend doing, unless you simply don't have the funds to buy a better quality one). A friend of mine with a manual tC with teh same intake but megan racing headers and exhaust, simply put 3 antifoulers from Autozone on his post-cat o2 sensor, reset everything, and his CEL is gone. We did the same on mine (which is an automatic) but I cannot get the CEL to stay gone, it is off for a short time, and usually after the next time I start the car it comes back on. Suggestions?

I have heard to take a little bit of caytlist and stick it in the antifouler, and then perma fix. Problem is finding some caytlist.

The honeycomb material in the catalytic converter is a catalyst that helps to reduce pollution. Find some of that honey comb material and stuff it into the antifouler then screw it on.

Could the number/length of the antifoulers be affecting it as well? I drilled out the one that is threaded on the sensor itself, so that the tip would not be mashed up against it. But the other 2 are not drilled, simply daisy-chained on the first one and then threaded into the pipe. The total length of the three of them threaded together is around 3in, but I've seen a lot of people here just using one antifouler or ordering one of the manufactured eliminators. Also, could I simply find some inside my OEM cat?
