Larger bore TB would be somewhat useless without a new intake manifold afik.

I wouldn't call it a complete waste of money. It is something that would help, especially of other mods are present. Just another piece to add to the puzzle.

note, this is all just thoughts running through my head, i dont know if it's true or not

the stock intake manifold is plastic, and has already been molded to have a certain diameter entrance. With it being plastic, i dont think it would be easy to bore it out. Yes, the actually boring itself wouldnt be difficult as all, hell, if you went ghetto style a dremel would suffice for the job, but with it being plastic and not metal, it's not as strong as it could be. i would be weary of boring it out too much as the plastic might not be thick/strong enough afterwards to hold whatever your putting into the engine (boost pressure mainly)

Yep, a larger TB will be practically worthless with the stock sized hole in the intake manifold.

and good luck finding an aftermarket intake manifold for less then $800 or so. I remember seeing a prototype on here a while ago, but haven't seen anything else pop up

i had a TB back when on my Z24 cavy and there wasnt any power noticed but throttle response def was a lot better (had a short ram on before and added after the tb) for 500bucks tho not worth it id wait till someone comes out with one alil cheaper. if you could do an intake mani and TB with a CAI id may be somewhat better but not a power to money friendly thing...boost man thats the best $ to power...do what you want but id say atleast wait alil and see if anyone comes out with anything else...
