If the light is coming on... it is because the fluid is low. If the fluid is low, it is likely b/c the pads are low... which means the calipers are more compressed allowing more fluid into the lines instead of the reservoir.
Check your pads first. If they are OK, then check fluid.

i was thinking about that thread exactly....
Lou i guess the fluid would be the first look since i already took a glance at your pads on saturday when i lowered your car....i guess we'll check it out later on today

Yup, that thread is listed in the "Common tC Issues" sticky in the Owner's Lounge (so I always grab it when these pop up). But I don't know why it doesn't turn up in searches, because we still get threads like this a lot. Oh well.
Again.. if the fluid is low... the pads are worn or you have/had a leak. IT is impossible to lose brake fluid without a leak.
Did you check the inboard pads? Those tend to wear much faster on the front of our cars. Mine were toast when the outboard pad still looked fine.
If you are 100% sure you had no leak, you should have replaced the pads. Even if they arent metal to metal, if they are worn enough to make the light come on then they are close enough. And since you probably added fluid, when you do change the pads you are going to have to remove fluid first unless you want brake fluid all over the place.
