Default Camry engine vs tC's

I got this from another Scion forum ..

"heres a not so mathematical formula
Camry 2AZ=tC 2AZ minus semi forged rods and ceramic coated piston tops

ive been inside both engines "
Does this mean the Camry's engine is better than ours ... or is ours better than their's seeing the fact they wanted to super Charge ours ???

the tc is slightly tuned version and pushes out a bit more ponies than the camry's engine.

and usually that emans the tC's engine's better since it pushes out more power. would you say something is crappier if it was less power?

so semi-forged rods and ceramic coated piston tops are a bad thing? im confused.. based on the equation you wrote, the camry is the one who is losing out on parts..

and yes the tC engine is a tuned version.. much better engine now i feel (than the version in the camry)

the only thing the camry has over the tc, i think is the comfort, but that's nothing to do with the engine.

i feel better now... I was just reading it wrong..... I guess the Camry is minus the Semi-forged Rods and coated piston tops .... I thought they meant ours was minus this.... my bad

I would disagree with the camry being more comfortable, I agree with our version of the 2az being tuned a lil better, plus the shorter gear ratio is the best improvment they added.

Hey Bandit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the numbers of the Camry and tC the same (HP/Tq)? I thought the only difference was the close-ratio gearbox.

Now then the Rav4's 2AZ produces 1 more HP and 2 more Torque than the tC's 2AZ. That I wonder why.

Well it needs it. even though its small, its a small SUV. SUV's and trucks need more torque for pulling........

True, but the tC weighs more (2,905 vs. 2,897), so why not give the tC just as much torgue (even though 2 at the crank probably wouldn't amount to crap at the wheels)?

nah, they throw all the tuned ones in the tC and leave all the untuned crappy ones for the Camry, no point in tuning all the engines.

Well under further review, the Camry has 154HP and 160TQ, so the tC's is more powerful and the Rav4's is stronger than the tC's

Camry 2AZ < tC 2AZ < Rav4 2AZ

The Highlander has the same HP as the tC with the same torque of the Rav4 (160HP/165TQ).

the power numbers changed on all cars this year as far as i know there is a new way of mesuring the power so cars like the rsx type s lost power in there rating even though they are teh exact same car they were last year
