Default Camry v6 in tC?

So I was thinking....If we are using a slightly modified camry 4banger, would it be safe to assume that the tranny mount would be the same as the camry v6 engine? And therefore we could strap a v6 into our cars.......

I am probably completely off base, and if so sorry i asked.

With enough cash, it could be done. But you're talking ALOT of swapping; engine, tranny, computer, mounts and I'm sure you'd have to do some fabrication before it's all over. Plus there are very few performance mods out for the V6, forget a turbo unless you develop it yourself. It would be cheaper to buy a V6 Camry instead.

Now if someone could find a way to install the Rav4's AWD system into our cars, that would be awesome. Starting in '04, the Rav4 also shared the 2AZ engine with the Camry.

you gotta measure out the sizes and demensions. this is pretty extreme but if you can stuff a V8 in a focus....

the only thing with toyota engine swaps is wiring. its even harder to wire a automatic car to a manual. if you decide.

i personally wouldnt do it.

The tC does use the same 2AZ-FE engine found in the Camry, w/ slightly modified trannies (different gear ratios). However, to my knowledge, the V6 engine in the Camry does not use the same transmissions as the I4 engine (neither the E350 (5spM) or the U241E (4spA)). So, no, you couldn’t just swap a V6 into the tC using the stock transmissions. This is on top of ECU differences that would have to be addressed, and simply physical differences in the engine bay. I doubt the engine bay in the tC is large enough to accommodate the V6 properly w/o significant modification. Not to mention how much this would upset the balance of the car. That’s not to say it couldn’t be done, anything could be done w/ enough money and time, but it would far from a simple swap.

If I was to swap out an engine, I wouldn't choose a v6 camry engine.

A K24 would be nice. :D All of torque plus significantly increased top end (thanks to separate cam profiles and variable cam timing on intake and exhaust, I believe). But there’s no way in hell I would want to the one to tackle that swap, lol

There'd be a lot of work. You'd need to push back the firewall most likely. The 2.4l 4cyl fills that engine bay pretty well.

why waste your money swapping in a honda k24 motor? the money you spent on swapping in a k24 would probably be good enough to mod the tC engine to 300+ HP.

I said I wouldnt want to be the one to do that swap. I was pointing out a engine that would be would work out nicely (performance wise) in the tC.

I think I would choose some incarnation of the engine we already have, but with boost, forged internals, and a higher redline.

Considering that Toyota does not even offer the Avensis with a V6 option I doubt it would fit.

For the uninitiated, the Avensis is the platform our tC's are based on.
