Default CARB Legal Cold Air Intake?

Hi, I have a 2009 Scion tC and sadly I live in California. Is there any cold air intakes that are CARB legal?

I have been trying to look and most of them I find are not. Can you please help?

AEM 2009 tC CAI is Not CARB Legal...

From the AEM site,

Not legal for sale or use in California

AEM Air Intake and Air Filter Search - Aftermarket Performance

What you want is the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) Cold Air Intake.

The Kit for my 2015 RS9 is Pricey, I'm from Cali, it is 100% CARB Legal, No Cel codes,
and Increases my Hp and Tq, and I have the Dyno sheets to prove it:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sci...-5-rs9-232519/

Yours will be a Different TRD Kit, and YMMV...

Not So. It is Still Available.

AFAIK, the TRD CAI is the only one that is CARB Legal.

Sorry, but the K&N Air Intake for the 2009 SCION tC 2.4L L4 Gas Engine is Not CARB Legal...

From the K&N site,

"Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards
while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal."

>>Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.<<

2009 SCION tC 2.4L L4 Gas Engine:
"Not legal for sale or use in California"

K&N Products by Vehicle Search - Year, Make, Model, Engine Search

the one that should be linked was the one that was since it kept the top of the stock intake with the trap filter

now if it matters that only certain years are, even though they'd all be the same, I wouldn't know, but completely believe that could happen.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to clear things up for the OP. The KN intake 69-8608TFK is CARB legal only for year 2005-2006. Now of course, since this re-uses the upper air box, you can install this on all tC1s (2005-2010). Perfect fit, no issues.
Its a simple technicality that KN only registered this for 2005-2006. It would require a different CARB number for 2007-2010 even though it still fits.

We installed this on our 2007 and were very impressed with the quality and fit. Its a good intake and has a nice sound. You do pay a bit more than comparable intakes, but the quality is definitely there and it is CARB legal for those years.
We do have it on sale here also: K&N Typhoon Intake Box 05-06 Scion tC - Meng Motorsports

Hope this helps!

That K&N airbox is nice, but save yourself $250 by getting a K&N panel filter and swiss chees the bottom half of the stock airbox. Google image search "swiss cheese airbox" if you don't know what I mean.
