Charging system trouble
Ok Like 2 months ago I was leaving home and my car had a dead battery so seeing how it is 4 years old I went to advance and bought a optima yellow top ,I only have a enclosed sub and aftermarket head unit for plan on a couple more amps in future,So in the last 2 months I have changed the starter and the alternator and have been left on the side of the road 4 times the first time I wasn't running the A/c so it fired off after a few mintues the last 3 times I had to be jumped off the alternator has been checked and is put out the right volts and I have checked Everything I can think of 3 times and dont know where to go from here?My scion does have the NST lightweight crank pulley if that makes a difference
When you say you were stranded, do you mean the car stalled while driving or was dead after being parked? There is a BIG difference in where to start looking.
Either way, I'd start with checking the wiring connections for my + and - at the battery, following the - to ground and the + to the alternator. If the connections are loose or the wire looks iffy in any way, replace it. If this is the case at all, it might also be a good time to consider a "Big 3" upgrade, especially if you intend on upgrading the audio gear. If you're going to be replacing wire, you might as well step it up.

I have the same problem. once in a while if im parked for more than 10 minutes with the car idling, my car will just shut off. i havent dove into the problem yet, but i have a strong idea its the crank pulley. i too have the underdrive pulley, 2 12inch subs, and a 1200watt amp with a head unit. my money is on the pulley. im gonna pop it off, change the belt, and see if it makes a difference.
I have the 20% overdrive pulley for the altenator on the way from NST once I get that on I'll let you know if that makes a difference,Thanks for responding
